Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim, co-hosts of ESPN’s ‘First Take,’ have addressed the ongoing dating rumors that have surrounded them for a while now. The topic arose during the show when Chris “Mad Dog” Russo jokingly remarked about their attire, both wearing white on Wednesday.
“Who said ‘I do’ first between the two of you,” Russo quipped, playing into the playful banter. “Who said ‘I don’t?’,” Qerim humorously shot back, denying any romantic connection between them.
As the conversation continued, Smith took a moment to address the persistent rumors, firmly stating, “No. There’s nothing going on. You understand? America’s been lying about that for years.”
Stephen A. Smith Considers The Rumors To Be Untrue
Qerim joined in on the humor, noting the amusement in people actually believing the rumors that have circulated around them. Russo mentioned that he often gets asked about the rumors, highlighting their widespread nature.
Despite the denials, Smith found a positive aspect in the rumors, suggesting they could be taken as complimentary. “Here’s the upside to all of that: they know my taste. So, therefore, they know that it’s a compliment to her,” he explained. “And obviously, she has great taste as well, so I guess that’s America’s way of saying we both really really look good.”
The dating rumors trace back to 2021, following Qerim’s split from her former husband, Jalen Rose. It was even suggested that their colleagues had engaged in an affair that led to the split. However, both Qerim and Smith have consistently denied these accusations.
With their playful banter on the show and good-natured response to the rumors, it’s clear that Smith and Qerim are focused on their professional relationship and continue to brush off the speculation with humor and grace.
