Believe it or not, Pokemon boasts a cinematic legacy of over 20 movies, beginning with the debut of Pokemon: The First Movie in 1998.
However, the franchise has been absent from theaters since the release of the last Pokemon movie in 2020. Nevertheless, according to the anime’s cast, they are eager to see Pokemon return to the silver screen.
This revelation emerged during Anime Japan 2024, where the event’s Blue Stage featured a panel on Pokemon Horizons: The Series. The stars of Pokemon took to the stage, expressing their enthusiasm for the possibility of a Pokemon Horizons movie.
Despite the cast’s eagerness, there have been no official announcements regarding such a project. Pokemon Horizons: The Series represents a significant evolution for the franchise, departing from the traditional narrative led by Ash Ketchum and Pikachu.
Instead, the show introduces new protagonists, Roy and Liko, who have been at the forefront since its inception.
Pokemon Horizons has introduced several story arcs and has finally made its debut in the United States after a considerable delay. The question now arises whether Pokemon will resume its theatrical releases.
For over a decade, The Pokemon Company consistently delivered a new movie each year, although this trend halted in 2020 with Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.
With three years having passed since the anime’s last movie, the cast shares the fans’ desire to see pocket monsters return to theaters as soon as possible.
For those who need to catch up on the latest Pokemon anime, the series is available for streaming on Netflix. The streaming service currently offers the first 12 episodes of Pokemon Horizons, with more episodes slated for release in the near future.
