Lev Parnas, a key figure in the Ukraine scandal involving Donald Trump, testified before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, targeting Trump and his Republican allies in Congress.
Parnas, central to Trump’s first impeachment, was directed by Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, to uncover damaging information on Joe Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine. Parnas admitted he found no evidence of wrongdoing by the Bidens during his travels.
Born in Ukraine and a U.S. immigrant, Parnas spoke of his journey and emphasized the absence of credible evidence against the Bidens. He stressed that no reliable source, including the FBI and CIA, has substantiated claims of Biden’s corruption in Ukraine.
Parnas highlighted an offer made by Giuliani to Mykola Zlochevsky, the CEO of Burisma, seeking information on the Bidens. Zlochevsky, however, provided no such evidence, reinforcing the absence of incriminating material.
Parnas attributed any misinformation regarding the Bidens to Russian sources, emphasizing the Kremlin’s role in spreading false narratives. He denounced the impeachment proceedings as based on Kremlin-fed falsehoods rather than credible evidence.
The testimony shed light on the lack of substance behind Trump’s efforts to tarnish the Bidens, exposing the Russian influence in the narrative. Parnas’s firsthand account underscored the absence of legitimate claims against the Bidens, challenging the basis of Trump’s Ukraine endeavors.
