Centered around baseball, this series marks MAPPA’s debut in the realm of major sports anime.
Scheduled for an April release, Oblivion Battery has locked in some of its voice cast, including notable names like Toshiki Masuda, Mamoru Miyano, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Yūki Kaji, Yoshitaka Yamaya, Takeo Ōtsuka, Mark Ishii, and Kengo Kawanishi. Steering the ship as director is Makoto Nakazono, known for his work on series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
Collaborating alongside Nakazono are talents like scriptwriter Michiko Yokote, assistant director Takeshi Iida, and character designer Hitomi Hasegawa.
The series, as indicated by its visuals, is deeply rooted in the world of baseball. Its main characters include Haruka, a standout pitcher celebrated for his dominance on the high school circuit, consistently outmatching his opponents.
Then there’s Kei, a skilled catcher known as the “General,” though he grapples with amnesia, grappling to reclaim his lost memories.
Both Haruka and Kei have been reigning supreme over their adversaries since their junior high days, and their journey continues as they enroll in Kotesashi High School in Tokyo.
Here, they encounter several familiar faces from their past, setting the stage for chaos and rivalry to unfold throughout the series.
