Which member of the Abbott Elementary cast would you most like to get drinks with? It could be fun to grab some aperol spritzes and have a lengthy “nap-erol spritz” with Jacob (Chris Perfetti). Over a bottle of sauvignon blanc, gossiping with Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter)? The ideal evening. If one could survive, a night out with Ava (Janelle James) would be exhilarating.
The third episode of Abbott Elementary Season 3 features Mr. Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), the coolest teacher at Abbott Elementary, whose listening prowess and laid-back manner steal the show. Gregory’s instructor becomes alarmed when older kids begin to congregate in his classroom for lunch, free times, and after-school talk sessions.
Gregory starts to get a lot of bother from these kids. In addition to asking about girl troubles and farting on demand, Gregory is extremely allergic to discussing women in general. Gregory refers to them as “females,” and the boys laugh and point, as though their teacher just used a profanity. One pupil giggles and adds, “Ha.” You mentioned being fearless. The term “f” is no longer used in elementary school as “f*ck.” It is actually “females.”
Recap
Gregory finally loses patience with the lady gossip. Gregory finds it difficult to respond when one of the boys, Javon (JeCobi Swain), asks for suggestions on what to get his fourth-grade sweetheart for her birthday. The young man has been considering getting his girlfriend a chain for himself.
Gregory says don’t do it because what kind of girl wants to see her lover wearing a chain? The child says, “Man, think about it.” “She will be able to date someone with a new chain.” Still not. However, Gregory deserves to speak up because, during the previous season, he gave his stylish girlfriend a Lego bouquet as a Valentine’s Day gift. Adorable, but not the ideal present for a girl who carries high-end purses.
Gregory, consider offering something similar to Janine (Quinta Brunson). This counsel backfires: In the hallway, Javon’s girlfriend sobs since she didn’t get the new chain. Her teacher, Melissa, is upset that Gregory stopped this from occurring. Thus…I think boyfriend chains are quite popular right now?
Following this mayhem, William Stanford Davis’s Mr. Johnson and Jacob collaborate to help Gregory see that being the cool teacher could really be to his advantage. There are several advantages to being the Cool Teacher. Even if the farts during lunch may be annoying, Gregory’s standing as a teacher makes him an important figure in the lives of the pupils.
It will take some time to properly wrangle the youngsters and set them on the right path. In the last two seasons of Abbott, we’ve seen Gregory truly develop from a replacement into the school botanist and a full-time teacher. Williams is a funny guy; his character’s funny lines aren’t as obvious as Janine or Ava’s, but sometimes it just makes him funnier.
These first two episodes of Season 3 showcase Williams’ talent. The youngsters’ desperate cries for guidance combined with Gregory’s blank stares into the camera in this episode make for one of the strongest performances Abbott has seen to yet.
