Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have reached an agreement to finalize their divorce. The divorce proceedings are described as uncontested. The couple, who married in Florida in November 2015, publicly announced their separation in July of last year.
The report further states that both Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have appeared and “entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage… which is being or has been submitted to the court.” Additionally, it is reported that Joe Manganiello has requested the court to terminate spousal support for both parties. The matter of legal fees is expected to be addressed in the next decision, according to the documents.
Sofia and Joe’s split was announced in a joint statement. It read:
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Joe filed for divorce two days after the announcement, sighting irreconcilable differences.
In a recent interview, Sofia Vergara disclosed the reason behind her separation from Joe Manganiello during the promotional tour for her latest Netflix show, Griselda. She explained that their marriage ended because Manganiello, being younger, desired to have children while she did not want to become an older mother. Vergara expressed her belief that it wouldn’t be fair to the child and clarified that while she respects those who choose to become parents later in life, it’s not a path she wishes to pursue anymore.
Vergara, who shares a son named Manolo Gonzalez Vergara with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez, is reportedly dating orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. The pair were spotted together in October of last year.
Meanwhile, Joe Manganiello has gone public with his new relationship with actor Caitlin O’Connor. The couple made their debut at the Children of Armenia Fund Gala at Cipriani in New York City, where they posed together on the red carpet.
