Dutch DJ Tiesto has revealed the cancellation of his Sunday Super Bowl performance in Las Vegas, citing a family emergency. DJ Kaskade will fill in on short notice.
Tiesto, also known as Tijs Verwest, was set to be the in-game DJ for the Super Bowl, entertaining before the game and during intervals. Despite not being part of the halftime show featuring eight-time Grammy winner Usher, Tiesto expressed disappointment at missing the event due to unexpected circumstances.
In a statement on X, Tiesto shared-
“Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!”
Tiesto, a 55-year-old Grammy award winner, has been a leading figure in the DJ scene for over two decades. He maintained a consistent presence among the world’s top DJs, as recognized by DJ Magazine, from 2002 to 2017.
Replacing Tiesto is U.S. DJ Kaskade, who expressed his excitement at the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl.
In a statement on X, Kaskade remarked-
“To be able to be the first Electronic Musician to be part of the full game experience of the Super Bowl held in Las Vegas seems like coming home, and I’m beyond excited to represent my community.”
