The month has turned to February, yet The Masked Singer anticipates March Mask-ness. In the season 11 teaser, host Nick Cannon introduces Rita Ora, the latest addition to The Masked Singer family at 33. Ora steps into Nicole Scherzinger’s panel role.
“I don’t know who you guys are, but I am so excited you’re here,” the “Your Song” singer, 33, tells a pair of contestants in the sneak peek.
Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, and Robin Thicke are set to return as judges, joining Ora on The Masked Singer panel for the upcoming season 11.
The Masked Singer revealed six costumes set to compete for The Golden Mask trophy: Book, Goldfish, Gumball, Lizard, Starfish, and Ugly Sweater.
Season 11 of The Masked Singer promises an impressive lineup with 16 celebrity singers and three wild card competitors. In the previous season, The Masked Singer made history with its first-ever four-person finale featuring Cow, Donut, Gazelle, and Sea Queen. Cow emerged victorious, securing first place and revealing R&B singer NE-YO beneath the mask.
“It gave me the opportunity to step outside my wheelhouse a little bit,” the Grammy winner, 44, told PEOPLE of dressing as a female cow on The Masked Singer. “As a male cow, I could probably still dance like me. I’m definitely going to sound like me. And I was like, yeah, I’ll get caught quick like that. But as a female cow, I got huge breasts and hips and the whole nine, so I can’t move the way NE-YO would normally move.”
The father of seven had already chosen a special spot to showcase his hard-earned Masked Singer trophy.
“The Golden Mask trophy is going to live in the same place that my Grammys and every other award that I’ve ever won lived, and that is at my mother’s home,” NE-YO said. “My mom has this huge cabinet full of my accomplishments, and we have moved things around and prepared a space for that big, beautiful golden Masked Singer trophy, right next to the Grammys.”
Actor John Schneider, aged 63, clinched second place, donning the Donut costume on The Masked Singer. The Dukes of Hazzard star bravely participated in the show amid the grieving process for his late wife Alicia.
“For me, The Masked Singer is really the glue that held me together for the last couple of months. It was vitally important,” he told. “It has made it so people were aware of the music, they’re also aware of grief being a process.
I think that grief is something that needs to be talked about publicly. It doesn’t need to be sequestered away and hidden. The more you talk about it, the more power you are giving yourself and the more power, I think, you’re taking away from your grief.”
The Masked Singer Season 11 is set to premiere on March 6 at 8 PM ET on Fox.
