A Famiboards user initially discovered the Instagram video, which reportedly focused on the ongoing construction of the future Universal Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida. The footage is said to have featured Eiji Aonuma and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, both donning safety gear at the construction site. This development has sparked speculation among enthusiasts, suggesting the potential inclusion of a Zelda-themed attraction in the upcoming park.
While the video was confirmed to be related to the theme park’s construction, there is conjecture that Aonuma’s presence, alongside Miyamoto, and the subsequent removal of the video from Instagram might indicate the possibility of a Zelda attraction.
Despite Aonuma potentially being at the site in his capacity as a senior officer at Nintendo EPD rather than specifically for Zelda-related plans, the removal of the video has only intensified the speculation surrounding the nature of their involvement. In addition, it was announced in the previous year that Super Nintendo World would be a part of the Universal Epic Universe theme park, slated to open in 2025. Persistent rumors have suggested the potential inclusion of a dedicated Legend of Zelda ride or area within the park.
Nintendo Life, having viewed the video before its removal, noted that Aonuma might have been present at the construction site in his official role at Nintendo EPD, without any explicit connection to a Zelda project.
Nevertheless, the removal of the video has fueled further speculation, leaving fans curious about the potential surprises related to The Legend of Zelda at the Universal Epic Universe theme park. Concurrently, Universal Studios Japan is in the process of expanding its Mario-themed area to introduce a Donkey Kong-themed world, set to open later this year.
