The cast for the television anime adaptation of Shinobu Takayama’s Haigakura manga was unveiled on Friday, featuring Takeo Ōtsuka as Ichiyō, Kaito Ishikawa as Tenkō, Lynn as Hakushurin, Hiro Shimono as Ransaiwa, and Satoshi Hino as Sontō.
The narrative unfolds in a secluded realm shared by deities and mortals, with Ichiyō, a young individual, embarking on a quest to capture the gods scattered across the realm. Alongside the subordinate god Tenkō, Ichiyō pursues the four evil gods holding the key to the realm’s collapse.
Directed by Junichi Yamamoto, known for works like “Armor Shop for Ladies & Gentlemen” and “More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers,” the anime is produced by Typhoon Graphics. Yū Murai, responsible for scripts in episodes 3, 5, 7, 10-11 of “Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion,” oversees the series composition.
Masaki Satō, recognized for contributions to “Slam Dunk,” “Ultimate Muscle,” and “Record of Ragnarok,” designs the characters, while Yuki Kurihara from “Dropkick on My Devil!” handles the music composition.
The anime is set to premiere in 2024. Shinobu Takayama initiated the manga’s serialization in Ichijinsha’s Zero-Sum Ward magazine in 2008. Following the magazine’s discontinuation in 2015, the manga persisted on the Zero-Sum Online service, becoming Takayama’s longest-running serialization.
Ichijinsha has published 16 volumes, accumulating over 1.3 million copies in circulation, including digital copies. Takayama’s previous work, the “Amatsuki” manga, also spawned a television anime in 2008.
