The promotional video and character visual for Kojirō in Yusei Matsui’s The Elusive Samurai (Nigejōzu no Wakagimi) manga’s anime adaptation were revealed on the official website. Mari Hino provides the voice for the character.
Scheduled to premiere in 2024, the anime features Asaki Yuikawa as Hojo Tokiyuki, a rookie voice actress, and Yūichi Nakamura as Suwa Yorishige.
The cast comprises: Shizuku voiced by Hinaki Yano, Kojirō voiced by Mari Hino, Ayako voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro, Kazama Genba voiced by Aoi Yūki and Fubuki voiced by Kikunosuke Toya.
Yuta Yamazaki, known for his role as assistant director for Wonder Egg Priority and series director for both Love Rice series, is helming the anime at CloverWorks. Yasushi Nishiya, recognized as the chief animation director for Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us and Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, is responsible for character design.
Both Viz Media and MANGA Plus are synchronously releasing the manga’s new chapters in English digitally alongside their Japanese debut.

Following the massacre of his family orchestrated by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki escapes with a handful of loyal retainers who survived the purge. Among them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. Yorishige, with his peculiar demeanor, claims to possess clairvoyance and predicts that Tokiyuki will eventually become the ruler of Japan. However, the immediate priority is to navigate the escape from enemy territory.
Yusei Matsui, known for works like Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro and Assassination Classroom, commenced the manga serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2021, and the series is currently ongoing.
