Square Enix, in collaboration with Fathom Events and Sony Pictures, announced a limited-time screening of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete in over 650 U.S. theaters on February 21-22. The English dub will be featured on February 21, followed by the Japanese version with English subtitles on February 22.
Audiences can enjoy exclusive pre-screening content, including a history of Final Fantasy VII, gameplay from the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth game, and new interviews with Tetsuya Nomura, the game and film director, Naoki Hamaguchi, the Rebirth director, and Yoshinori Kitase, the producer.
Following this, Square Enix is bringing the film back to theaters in Japan from January 19 to February 1.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete serves as the director’s cut of Square Enix’s computer-animated feature, offering an extended narrative following the original Final Fantasy VII role-playing game. This complete edition includes an extra 26 minutes of footage.
Originally released in 2005, the Complete version was distributed on Blu-ray Disc in 2009.
The upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake project, is set for a global launch on February 29. It will be available on two discs for PlayStation 5.
Square Enix outlines the game:
Following their escape from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and companions embark on a journey across the planet. New adventures unfold in a vibrant, expansive world—dash across grassy plains on a Chocobo and explore diverse environments.
Square Enix offers a “twin pack” bundle featuring both Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Released on PlayStation 4 in April 2020 (after a brief delay from March 2020), Final Fantasy VII Remake initially remained a PlayStation exclusive until April 2021.
The enhanced Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade version, featuring extra content, debuted in June 2021 on PlayStation 5, in December 2021 on PC via the Epic Games Store, and in June 2022 on PC via Steam.
The original Final Fantasy VII launched for the PlayStation console in 1997, featuring the story of Cloud Strife, a mercenary on a mission to thwart the Shinra Electric Power Company’s exploitation of the planet’s Lifestream.
