F. Gary Gary’s Lift is a comedy film that centers on an exciting heist with many intriguing characters. This 107-minute-long film stars Kevin Hart, Money Heist’s Ursula Corberó, and many others as the ones behind the strategic plot.
Lift’s story centers on Cyrus, a clever international thief who has managed to build himself a lavish life by performing heists all his life. After his crew members, Denton, Camila, Magnus, and Luke are on the verge of being sent to jail, Interpol threatens Cyrus and the others to steal from one of the biggest terrorists in the country.
Lars Jorgenson hopes to stage a natural disaster in Europe, for which he was to pay a company called Leviathan. Since Jorgenson could only transfer money in gold bricks, he planned to send an air delivery of the gold to Leviathan’s vault.
It’s now up to Cyrus and his talented crew to somehow steal the gold while the airplane is still in the sky. Besides Kevin Hart in the role of Cyrus and Ursula Corbero as Camila, the cast of Lift consists of Gugu Mbatha-Raw in the role of Abby, Vincent D’Onofrio plays Denton, Billy Magnussen plays Magnus, Kim Yoon Ji plays Mi Sun and Vivek Kalra plays Luke.
Lift Filming Locations:
With Bernhard Jasper as the cinematographer, filming for Netflix’s Lift started in the early months of 2022, with the whole production completed by May of the same year. The Kevin Hart film was ready to premiere last year but had to be postponed due to the strike. Major filming for Lift takes place in areas around the UK and Italy.
Venice, Italy:
The movie starts with Cyrus and his group performing a heist in Venice, Italy. Places that were used while filming these Lift scenes are the Piazza San Marco, Riva Degli Schiavoni, and Combo Hotel in Campo dei Gesuiti.
Located at 30100 Venezia, Italy, the Piazza San Marco is considered the city’s center and is surrounded by tons of famous buildings like the Doge’s Palace and the St. Mark’s Basilica. The stunning architecture and historic atmosphere of San Marco are sure to take those who visit the place back in time.
While the ornate architecture may make it seem like it’s only a place of visual beauty, Piazza San Marco is surrounded by all kinds of popular restaurants, museums, and even orchestras. Besides Lift, other projects that have been filmed in the Piazza San Marco are The Talented Mr. Ripley, Spiderman: Far From Home, and Inferno.
Lying on San Marco’s east, the Riva deli Schiavoni is another popular tourist spot in Venice that is almost always filled with people from all over the world. The busy walkway has a beautiful waterfront with a picturesque view of the sky. Campo dei Gesuiti is a place that lies close to the Fondamenta Nuove and houses the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
All of these places were used for the beginning scenes of Lift, where Cyrus arrives in Italy to steal the painting. Camilla waits for the crew to arrive in a boat near the Bridge of Sighs. Shots of the Grand Canal and Dona Bridge were also used in these scenes.
The huge and scenic castle scenes were shot in Miramare in Trieste, Italy. Surrounded by a flower-filled park and an intriguing museum, the castle is known for its royal splendor and view of the Gulf of Trieste.
United Kingdom:
The Embassy Gardens in London were chosen for filing the scenes of Cyrus’ home. With almost 160 luxurious apartments and a sky pool, this building is a sight to behold. The pool stands out the most, connecting the roofs of the two Embassy Gardens buildings at almost 35 meters above the ground.

The action scenes were shot at Drawing Office One, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Most of the scenes of Lift were shot in Ireland. Located at the Titanic Hotel Belfast, this huge room hosts countless functions and events all year long. Its stunning roof design and capacity to hold almost 300 people make it a popular choice for parties and events.
The pub scenes from Lift were shot at the Crown Liquor Saloon located at Great Victoria Street, Belfast. The train station Cortina D’Ampezzo was the Whitehead Railway Station in Northern Ireland. The mountain scenes where Cyrus drives through were shot at the Dolomite Mountains.
