In the previous chapter of City of Arrogance, Asha puts down her pride and asks Carlisle to help her, saying that she will accept any consequences of it later.
Carlisle is confused since the entire Empire would be threatened if the Pervaz Army gets annihilated, so he tells her that there shouldn’t be any consequences to it at all.
Asha tells him that the enemy wouldn’t have attacked them if he hadn’t come to Pervaz and that she is trying to settle everything now.
Carlisle tells Asha that while he isn’t trying to be arrogant, it is arrogant of her to assume that she needs to defend Pervaz alone, all by herself.
Carlisle finally understood Asha’s hesitation and he tells her that if she really wants to pay him back, then he would ask for it later in an exasperated voice.
The two armies finally step on the battlefield, and Carlisle is taken aback by how well-prepared the barbarians look.
Asha was also shocked, and she says that they had external help because there was no way the barbarians would have access to enough resources by themselves, which makes Carlisle realize something.
He could think of someone who would do this and have enough money to fund barbarians. It was all to sabotage Pervaz and the Empire, but they had better things to be worried about.
The battle starts, and Carlisle assigns different positions to different people. The banter between Carlisle and Asha was really fun to read as well.
The two charge ahead and kill enemies swiftly. Carlisle and Asha worked well, and the two had each other’s back. Carlisle looked really happy to finally have someone who would watch his back in a battle.
Their teamwork and coordination were shockingly good, as if they had been fighting together for years.
