Kanye West has surprised fans by making a bold switch from the rap scene to heavy metal. The 46-year-old rapper grabbed attention on Wednesday when he shared a glimpse of his latest acquisition on his Instagram Story – a set of metallic dentures.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, these eye-catching dentures come with a staggering price tag of $850,000.
In a subsequent post, West drew a playful comparison between his new dental adornment and the iconic James Bond villain, Jaws. Fans of the classic spy film series will remember Jaws, who sported a menacing mouthful of metal in the 1977 film “The Spy Who Loved Me” and its 1979 sequel, “Moonraker.” West seems to have found inspiration in the cinematic world, embracing a look that echoes the notorious Bond antagonist.
Kanye West’s teeth have caused quite a buzz
The news circulating about Kanye West’s teeth has caused quite a buzz. According to The Daily Mail, West supposedly underwent a procedure in which his natural teeth were fully replaced with custom-made titanium dentures.
The dental work was reportedly done by Dr. Thomas Connelly, who proudly refers to himself as the “Father of Diamond Dentistry,” along with cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi.
However, Dr. Connelly refuted these claims, stating to Complex that Kanye West did not have his teeth removed. He still has a full dentition. Healthy and happy.
Despite being unable to reach West’s representative for confirmation, Page Six noted that Connelly shared West’s dentures reveal on his own Instagram Story and expressed his admiration for the new look when speaking to The Daily Mail. “Ye was a pleasure to work with every step of the process,” he exclaimed. “His vision for designing unique art transcends the dental progression. The marriage of his vision with dental science has created a new look that is epic!”
Netizens reaction on Kanye West’s teeth
Despite Kanye West and Dr. Thomas Connelly expressing pride in their collaborative dental work, fans on social media didn’t hold back from poking fun at the Grammy winner for his unconventional choice.
One user on X commented, “He is still an idiot, more money than brains!!! Get Help Man!” Another added a humorous touch, saying, “No way Kanye West went through with that. Looks like he wrapped his teeth with a gum wrapper.” A third person seemed genuinely concerned, writing, “This can’t be real…”
Kanye West’s knack for teeth transformations
This isn’t the first time Kanye West has ventured into the realm of designing his own teeth. In 2010, during an episode of “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” he claimed to have had his bottom teeth replaced with diamonds, explaining, “I just thought that diamonds were cooler. … It’s certain stuff that rock stars are supposed to do.” However, he admitted the maintenance required frequent visits to the dentist.
In a later interview with Vanity Fair, West disclosed that he chose to remove his teeth instead of opting for a grill because he “didn’t feel like having to take them out all the time.”
Interestingly, West isn’t the only one in his family with a penchant for dazzling teeth. Last June, his 8-year-old son, Saint, showcased his teeth adorned with metallic Louis Vuitton logos on social media, and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, has previously flaunted an opal and diamond grill.
North West showed off her sparking teeth
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as evident in North West’s latest TikTok appearance where she proudly showcased her new diamond grills. This comes in the wake of her father, Kanye West, revealing his own striking $850,000 titanium dentures.
In a photo posted on the shared TikTok account of North and her mom Kim Kardashian, the 10-year-old parted her lips with her fingers to unveil the sparkling stones on four of her lower teeth and two of her upper teeth. The arrangement included some teeth entirely covered with diamonds, while others were outlined with dazzling rocks.
Playfully captioning the photo with “Random” in blue, North also shared a slideshow featuring various snapshots, including moments from a basketball game, an ATV ride, and what she humorously called a “bad picture” of the group at the beach.
It remains uncertain whether North drew inspiration from her father’s new dental aesthetic or simply decided to be “random,” as she stated. Kanye West, the 46-year-old rapper, debuted his own attention-grabbing look earlier, likening the metallic dentures to the James Bond villain Jaws, known for his mouthful of metal.
