American actress Christina Applegate not only received a standing ovation at the Emmy Awards but was also congratulated by many significant people in her life including her ex-husband Johnathon Schaech due to her battling through life-threatening conditions like breast cancer and multiple sclerosis while simultaneously maintaining her acting career.
The American actor and screenwriter celebrated her appearance in the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Tuesday, 16 January 2024, as a nominee for Lead Actress in a Comedy series for her role in ‘Dead to Me’.
Schaech expressed his pride in the 52-year-old actress on X, formerly known as Twitter, following her attendance at the 2023 Emmy Awards on Monday as a nominee and a presenter for Supporting Actress in a Comedy series.
The Legends of Tomorrow actor explained how Christina had danced on Broadway opening night with a broken foot, defeated breast cancer, and lived through multiple sclerosis. Therefore, he was so happy for her as he explained that he has never encountered a more resilient person than her in his life than her.
He reposted a report about Christina receiving a standing ovation during the event and remarked, “Go, Christina!”, and he also shared a screenshot of the message on his Instagram Story.
The actor was married to Applegate from 2001 before getting a divorce in 2007, after which Christina went on to marry her current husband Martyn LeNoble, a Dutch bassist and a founding member of the alternative rock band Porno for Pyros, in 2013.
In addition to his appreciation story, Schaech also posted a video of Applegate wearing a Christian Siriano cranberry velvet gown along with the caption, “We are so proud of you, Christina.”

Appreciation For Applegate
The caption for the video when it was first posted on Siriano’s Instagram account expressed that Christina looks gorgeous and Siriano wishes to outfit her every day of the week, along with the hashtags #Christinaapplegate #emmys. The 38-year-old Project Runway winner also said in a blog post that designing a garment for the Married… with Children alum was “an honor.”
Siriano expressed that he absolutely adores Christina and that making something for her for the Emmys was an honor. The American fashion designer also congratulated her on her well-earned nomination and applauded her for filming her role while suffering from MS, which is an inspiration for so many people.
He captioned images of Applegate wearing her award presentation costume with the hashtags #christinaapplegate #emmys, finishing his message with the note, “Love CS ❤️ Thank you @iamlindsayflores dream team!”
Adir Abergel, Applegate’s hairstylist, claimed to have given the actress a “sleek and shiny Veronica Lake-inspired hair moment” for the important occasion. He expressed how it might be intimidating to prepare for significant occasions, but he tried to be in the moment and savored every second they spent together.
He also explained to PEOPLE magazine that he has been friends with Christina for a long time, and he love her very much. He added, “Showing up for her on that night was very important to me.” Abergel hailed her for her “immense contributions” to the acting profession and referred to her beauty as “iconic”.
For her part in Dead to Me, Applegate received a nomination for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series at the ceremony. Quinta Brunson, the creator and star of Abbott Elementary, received the award, but Applegate also served as a presenter for the show.
The audience stood as Applegate and presenter Anthony Anderson approached the podium, and she thanked the audience, expressing how “You’re totally shaming me [and my] disability by standing up.”

American actress Christina Applegate, born on 25 November 1971, began her acting career as a young child and rose to fame in the comedy series Married… with Children (1987–1997), where she portrayed Kelly Bundy.
