Even though Britney Spears recently said she’s leaving the music world, the 42-year-old famous singer has once again turned off her Instagram.
This is a letdown for fans who were excitedly waiting for a happy post about the 20th anniversary of her famous song, “Toxic.”
Instead of joining in the expected celebration, Britney decided to take a break for herself. In a post she deleted earlier this month, she made it clear that she won’t be going back to the recording studio to make her own music.
Despite this, Britney shared that she’s happy working behind the scenes, writing songs for other musicians. She explained, “When I write songs, it’s mostly for the joy of others or just as a personal hobby! In the last two years, I’ve written a bunch of songs, more than 20, for other artists. I really enjoy being a secret songwriter.”
Britney Spears won’t be releasing any new music for a while
Britney Spears said that rumors about Julia Michaels and Charli XCX writing songs for her new album are untrue. She called these rumors “trash” and referred to the women as “random people.” In her honest memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney shared that she’s taking a break to focus on herself and won’t be releasing new music for some time.
She made it very clear that continuing her music career isn’t her main priority right now. Britney expressed, “It’s time for me to actually find myself and stop trying to be someone that other people want.”
Earlier, Britney had talked about leaving the music business after her release from the controversial conservatorship in 2021. She wanted to rebel against her family, including her father Jamie Spears. However, she surprised everyone by collaborating with Elton John on the song “Hold Me Closer,” released a year later. Her last album, “Glory,” came out in 2016, and she hasn’t released any new music since then.
Britney Spears’s removal of her Instagram account is not a first
This isn’t the first time Britney has taken down her Instagram. Back in October, just before “The Woman In Me” came out, she said a temporary goodbye to her fans with the caption, “See you in hell.” Around the same time, Britney’s ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who faced criticism after Britney’s memoir was released, removed all his Instagram posts.
After Britney shared that she had an abortion when they were dating, the singer of “Cry Me A River” had to turn off comments on his social media because he didn’t want people talking about it. Now, there are rumors that he’s deleting his social media accounts and stepping away from the spotlight. People think he wants to focus on writing new music and might be planning a tour in the United States.
Britney Spears makes a significant announcement on Snapchat
To celebrate the 25th birthday of her super successful album “Baby One More Time,” Britney Spears has joined forces with Snapchat. This pop star released that big album 25 years ago, and now she’s giving fans a special experience with augmented reality.
Fans can use the Britney Spears Merch Lens on Snapchat to virtually try on a new item, the Spears letterman jacket. While doing this, they can enjoy listening to the famous song “Baby One More Time” in the background. There’s another lens that lets fans copy the famous shoulder sway from the music video and add songs and remixes from the album to their Snapchat stories.
But Britney surprised her followers by taking down the lively dance videos she used to share on Instagram. Fans got worried after she got negative comments for some of her posts. She even posted a video of herself dancing with knives, making people concerned for her safety.
For the 25th anniversary of her first album, “…Baby One More Time,” Britney Spears is talking about it on Snapchat. People following her on Snapchat can look forward to seeing behind-the-scenes photos, her thoughts on past shows, and details about special merchandise.
Britney shared on Snapchat, “Celebrate the 25th anniversary of my first album, ‘…Baby One More Time,’ with the new exclusive anniversary collection, available now.” She had hinted at something exciting on Twitter before making this announcement.
Despite fans hoping for new music, Britney has been clear that she won’t be returning to the music business. She even boldly stated before deleting her Instagram, “I will never work in the music industry again!! When I write, it’s either for fun or for others. In the last two years, I’ve written over 20 songs for other people! Being a ghostwriter is something I truly enjoy.”
It’s worth noting that after making these announcements and teasing fans, Britney removed her Snapchat posts about the announcement from her Twitter account. This has raised concerns among fans about the amount of promotional content, especially with the loss of her Instagram, which used to give her brand a more personal touch.
