Wyatt Russell had this crazy showdown with a bear, right on the first day of shooting a TV gig with his famous pops, Kurt Russell.
So, they’re on this trail for the shoot, and right after they shout “action,” someone’s like, ‘Hold up, is that a bear?’ Wyatt’s just standing there like, ‘Huh?’ Turns out, there’s a bear just 20 yards away. He’s all like, ‘Yo, bear, scram! Get lost!’ Trying to act all big and tough.
And get this, his first move is reaching for his prop gun, thinking he’s gonna scare off the bear. But surprise, surprise – the gun’s a dud! It don’t fire, ain’t doing anything.
Now, this bear’s getting closer, and Wyatt’s panicking. Until, bam! Someone on set busts out an air horn, and the bear bolts. Talk about a wild first day on set, man!
So, like, Wyatt Russell, you know, Kurt Russell’s kid and Goldie Hawn’s spawn, spilled the beans about this wild encounter with a bear on his first day shooting “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” He’s doing the show with his famous pops, Kurt.
They sent us down this trail, ’cause we’re gonna start 100 yards down, wearing these gas masks. I got a gun on, looking all Indiana Jones cool, y’know? Then, right after “action,” someone’s like, ‘Is that a bear?’
I’m like, ‘Huh?’ I look back, there’s a bear like 20 yards away. I’m like, ‘Uh, go away, bear, go away!’ and I’m raising my arms, trying to look big, you know?
First thing I did was reach for my prop gun, thinking, ‘This bear’s gotta go!’ But, like, the gun does not fire, man. It just does not work, I swear. So there I am, thinking, ‘Good first day,’ as the bear’s strolling towards me. Then, this grip dude blows an airhorn, and the bear’s like, ‘Whoa!’ and takes off. Saved by the airhorn, man.
So, I’m joking with Kurt, sitting next to me during the interview, ‘Good first day,’ you know? On the show, Kurt and I play younger and older versions of the same character. It’s the first time we’ve worked together as grown-ups.
We were looking at a bunch of father-son projects, and nothing clicked until this one. Pre-production was like, ‘We need a character that’s interesting and fun.’ We worked on it for a while ’cause it wasn’t written for us, just a casting idea.
I had a day off, and I was like, ‘I better check out Wyatt, see what’s up.’ What I learned was, I don’t wanna say relief, but it was like, ‘He’s good, really good.’ I saw what he’s doing, and I figured out how to vibe with it better than I was doing. It’s all about falling into that rhythm, man.

Okay, check it out, Wyatt Russell, that guy from Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn? Yeah, he’s blowing up in Hollywood. So, peep this, he used to be all about hockey, like pro-level stuff.
Then, wham! Injury hits, and that whole hockey dream? Poof, gone. In 2018, he spills to the Times Colonist, “They snatched it away, but I kinda feel like it was meant to be, a blessing, because hockey was not taking me anywhere.”
Now, he is deep into the movie scene, snaggin’ roles left and right on TV and in films. But hold up, big news – he lands the lead gig in the 2023 Apple TV+ series called “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” And guess what? He is doing it side by side with his famous pops.
Kurt Russell spills the deets to Entertainment Tonight in November 2023, talking about how awesome it was to work with Wyatt. He is like, “Watching him act, I saw bits of myself, you know?”

How Wyatt Russell and His Wife Traveled in a Converted Van
Okay, so here’s the scoop. While they were waiting for their first kid, Wyatt and Hagner took off in their decked-out Mercedes Sprinter van, Carnella. Vogue even featured it in their April 2021 issue!
This van’s got a dope blond-wood interior and is loaded with all the essentials – a stovetop, a cool dining spot, plus modular seating and sleeping setups.
Russell spilled the beans to the mag, saying, “Vacations were always a bit tricky for us because we gotta plan things last-minute thanks to our crazy jobs.” That’s where the RV comes in clutch. And Hagner added that once their little one showed up, they were all in to take him on the road with them.
“I mean, as soon as we get our new van set up, we are hitting the road with the little dude. It is going to be a whole new batch of adventures,” she said. Road trip vibes, you feel me?
