I Obtained A Mythic Item Chapter 87 opens up with a conversation between Guild Master Yoo Seongeun and a mysterious woman. The Mysterious Woman seems to be a new villain in this series, as she plans to coax Jaehyun and bring him on her side if the Lotus Guild refuses her request.
Seongeun tells the Mysterious Woman that she should have gone directly to Jaehyun, but the Woman replies that she believes in solving matters in a gentlemanly manner.

The Mysterious Woman then leaves the room after telling Seongeun that she will be waiting for her response. Seongeun’s smiling face turns into a rage as she thinks of how this woman outright told her that she was going to take away a member of her guild, her own student at that.
The focus then shifts to the entrance of the second trial, where the battle between Jaehyun and Smir has just begun. Jaehyun took the lead and immediately attacked Smir’s neck with his sword. Surprisingly, Jaehyun’s sword doesn’t even make a scratch on Smir.
Smir once again asks Jaehyun if he really wants to choose violence because he’s facing a god from Aesir who’s as strong as Odin. Smir tells Jaehyun that no matter how hard he tries, there’s still no guarantee that his efforts will bear fruit. Jaehyun activates his skills and tells Smir that this way is better than sitting around doing nothing.
Smir feels pity for Jaehyun, so he once again tells Jaehyun that there’s no value in what he’s doing right now and that there’s still much he needs to learn. Jaehyun looks into Smir’s eyes and tells him that he himself is the only one who can decide if his actions have value or not.
Jaehyun’s words leave a deep impact on Smir as he gets reminded of his father’s words. Surprisingly enough, Jaehyun’s words are the same words that Smir once heard from his father. Smir finally decides to fight Jaehyun, and he immediately launches an attack, which Jaehyun easily dodges.
Smir asks Jaehyun if he can take responsibility for the words that he just said. As soon as Smir speaks up, Jaehyun suddenly starts to feel as if his body is being crushed by something heavy, and this leaves Jaehyun struggling to even speak. Smir asks Jaehyun the same question again, but Jaehyun still fails to answer because of his situation.
Stuck in this hopeless situation, Jaehyun wonders how he can defeat such a monster. Suddenly, Jaehyun’s body returned to normal, and he stood back up. Smir tells Jaehyun that only those who have power can determine if their actions have value, so he’s going to give him a chance to prove that he has that power.
Smir assures Jaehyun that if he succeeds in proving that he’s worthy, he will let him in. Jaehyun thinks for a while and then tells Smir that he will make an offer to prove his worth. Both Hela and Smir get intrigued by Jaehyun’s words.
Jaehyun says that he will withstand Smir’s ultimate attack once and prove his worth. Hela is shocked upon hearing such a brainless request, so she tries to stop Jaehyun, but Smir immediately accepts the offer. Hela tries to stop Smir from attacking Jaehyun, but her words don’t affect him that much.
Smir steps back and unleashes his ultimate attack on Jaehyun. The attack passes through Jaehyun and even destroys the area behind him. Smir wondered if this was the end of Jaehyun, but to his surprise, Jaehyun managed to survive the attack by using one of his skills.
Even though Jaehyun’s method can be considered cheating, Smir still acknowledges it nonetheless. Smir smiles and claps for Jaehyun, and then he allows Jaehyun to pass through. Smir further adds that this trial was made for someone like Jaehyun.
Jaehyun also smiles and asks Smir if he’s sure about allowing him to pass through. Smir tells Jaehyun that coincidences can’t happen twice, and so he will allow Jaehyun to pass through. Jaehyun finally enters the trial while Hela watches him from a distance in astonishment as she wonders how someone can be this strange.
