What if you get a chance to redeem your wrongs and a second chance at life, even though you were cruel to no extent? The second chance at life came at a huge price, as after you were killed by the hands, you got reincarnated into a humble human being.
Well, the themes of reincarnation and redemption run high in the world of anime and several animes, including Crona: Soul Eater, Attack on Titan, The Promised Neverland, Berserk, and Sailor Moon. Similarly, there’s another upcoming anime titled “Surgeon Elise” set to make its way onto your screen, carrying the same theme.
Directed by Kumiko Habara, the anime has the fans of the South Korean web novel of the same name excited and on the edge of their seats with its ordinary yet unique protagonist, Dr. Song Jihyun, an extraordinary surgeon with expertise in saving lives, but she isn’t all that good.
Written by Deko Akao, the lead cast of the awaited anime features Yui Ishikawa giving voice to the character of Elise, the extra-ordinary surgeon expert in saving the lives of her patients; Yōhei Azakami gives the voice of Linden’s character.
Yoshimasa Hosoya gave the voice Graham’s character; Satoshi Hino gave the voice for Ron’s character; Daisuke Ono gave the voice for Lenne De Clorance’s character; Hiro Shimono gave the voice for Chris De Clorance’s character; Soma Saito gave the voice for Michael De Romanoff’s character, and Megumi Han gave the voice for Yulian De Childe’s character.
The story of our protagonist Elise’s reincarnation is a major plot element of the upcoming anime titled “Surgeon Elise,” which unites her past and present, thus laying the foundation of the anime and shaping her character into a symbol of perseverance and development that transcends lives through a turn of events.
The anime’s plot primarily centers around Dr. Song Jihyun, the surgeon with a talent for saving lives, being reincarnated in the life of Elise de Clorance, the ill-mannered wife of the emperor, who has a knack for murdering people.
Well, the troubled empress got another chance at life, this time as Dr. Song Jihyun, a selfless doctor seeking to atone for her previous mistakes after facing execution for her crimes, but things take another turn when she dies again and gets reincarnated as the empress that was her previous life.
This time, when Elise returns to her past life as the empress, she has a new outlook on life, and her medical abilities are unharmed, thus starting her redemption journey, and her character gains emotional depth from the anime’s “Listen” theme by Maju Arai.
The anime, through Elise’s journey, tells an important lesson about the ability of people to change and the never-ending search for meaning and forgiveness in the face of previous transgressions.
Premise
The anime titled “Surgeon Elise” primarily focuses on Dr. Song Jihyun, an extraordinary surgeon with a knack for saving lives who gets a second chance at life after being an ill-mannered empress in her past life who was executed by her husband in her past life.
But by a sheer stroke of luck, Elise gets reincarnated as a doctor after meeting a dreadful end at the hands of her husband in her past life, so she starts pursuing a career in surgery and dedicates her life to helping others as a means of making up for her previous actions that are mostly motivated by her sense of regret.
Well, as life would have it, another twist happens when Elise dies once again in a plane crash, thus returning to her past life as the troubled empress, but she returns to ten years before the day she got executed, thus giving her a chance to win her loved one’s back.
This time around, Elise decides not to marry Linden in this life to avoid a tragedy from occurring once again, and she decides to become a doctor once again in her past life. Thus, equipped with her knowledge of modern medicine, Elise sets out to become a specialist within this brief opportunity to live.
The story focuses on Elise as she overcomes the obstacles of her previous life with the help of her medical knowledge from the modern world and the lessons she’s learned from it, thus focusing her energy on saving lives as opposed to her past life, where her focus was on ending lives.
In this life, Elise’s goal isn’t only to rewrite her destiny but to use her skills to help others and make a positive impact on the world around her, thus focusing on goals including redemption and resilience.
The royal brat of an empress turns into a new leaf following her untimely death in the modern day following a plane crash and starts to save lives instead of ending them, but the question that remains is whether Elise is successful in healing her past relationship or will she fail?
