Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal’s friendship journey
Growing up in North Carolina and meeting on the first day of first grade, Rhett and Link have a distinctive beginning story. Their friendship started in detention after they wrote offensive messages on their desks. In a rather inventive move, their teacher gave them coloring pages featuring mythological animals.
After the pair made their YouTube debut in 2006, “Good Mythical Morning” has amassed a massive fan base of over 25 million. Celebrity attendees like Tom Hanks, Post Malone, Jack Black, Amy Schumer, Daniel Radcliffe, Megan Fox, John Boyega, Madison Beer, and the boy band NCT Dream highlight how successful their company’s shows are.
A major turning point was reached in 2019 when Mythical bought the Smosh comedy brand after Smosh’s parent company, Defy Media, failed. Rhett & Link chose to keep a minority stake in Smosh while selling it back to its founders, Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla, this summer.
