American singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera introduced her new Las Vegas concert residency at the very end of 2023 by performing a few shows in December, but because of illness, she had to now postpone a few shows at the beginning of the new year.
The actress and television personality took to her Instagram on 3 January 2024 to inform her fans about the lack of shows that are to happen for a few weeks while she recovers.
Xtina, the alias of her official profile, revealed on her Instagram Story on Wednesday that she had contracted the illness and will return to performing in a few weeks. She wrote that after welcoming her fans to 2024’s New Year from the Las Vegas stage, she had now been welcomed with “a new year flu!”
The “Lady Marmalade” singer also took to X to express that she is sorry to share the news that two of her shows this weekend will be rescheduled while she rests, adding that she cannot wait to get back on the stage as soon as she is healed.
She signs off by expressing how “incredibly proud” she is of this show and her gratefulness for all the support and love shown by those who attended the concerts, promising to see them soon on her next shows.
Aguilera has a busy year ahead of her once she heals as she already began the residency with two performances on December 30 and 31, with more on the horizon. In addition to that, she will also be executive producing a stage version of her 2010 film musical Burlesque, the release date of which is still pending.
A New Stunning Figure on Stage
On December 30, Christina Aguilera celebrated the start of her new Las Vegas residency by showcasing her incredible weight loss. The singer revealed her new figure with a form-fitting bodysuit and thigh-high white boots as she took the stage, glowing as she had shed almost 40 pounds.
Christina, age 43, attributes her new physical appearance to both a strict exercise training routine and a nutritious diet. The singer previously lost a number of pounds by sticking to the Rainbow Diet and consuming only 1,600 calories a day following the birth of her son Max in 2008.
Nevertheless, she soon gained some of the weight back due to stress created by the divorce from her first husband, Jordan Bratman. Christina has since given up on dieting forever and instead is now more concerned with eating healthily and avoiding sugary snacks.
The Grammy winner dazzled the crowd all night long with ten distinct wardrobe changes that showcased her sleek new appearance, and she backed it up with a huge selection of styles for her playlist, ranging from light-up dresses to curve-hugging gowns.
Over the years, the singer of “Genie in a Bottle” has experienced fluctuations in her weight and has been publicly transparent through various news websites about how she manages these swings.
She explained how one can have both good and bad days when it comes to how one feels about themselves. Christina stated in a 2021 interview with Health that she hated being so skinny when she started her singing career. Then, she began to fill out a little bit after she turned 21, and she started to love her new curves.
Tributes to Legend Cher
For her shows on the last days of December, the “Voice of a Generation” sang a breathy rendition of Marilyn Monroe’s famous song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” as well as a cover of Leslie Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me.”
Along with those, Christina danced and sang to “Welcome to Burlesque,” a song that had its debut in the movie of that name, in which she co-starred with Cher while she was dressed in a shimmering silver dress.
The 43-year-old pop diva also dressed up as the “Wagon Watusi” icon during her peak in the 1980s to pay homage to the movie and her co-star, Oscar winner Cher, back in October 2023.
During Halloween, her “favorite day of the year,” she thought it was only right to go back in time and pay her respect to the “OG trailblazer.” Aguilera added to her message posted on X that Cher’s music and style have left a lasting impression on the world, and she still finds it incredibly hard to believe that she got to “collaborate with such a legend.”
