Gypsy Rose Blanchard was found guilty at the age of 23 of murdering her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Gypsie was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri on December 28, 2023. On the same morning of the same day, Gypsy was seen for the first time after the release.
Gypsy was seen leaving the Missouri hotel after being released along with her husband. She walked out of the building carrying two plastic bags, a pillow tucked under her arm, and a suitcase. She wore a distressed sweatshirt, jeans, and only socks on her feet.
She married Ryan Scott Anderson, a Louisiana special education teacher, behind bars last year. Her husband Anderson was also seen along with her, and he was wheeling another suitcase of her toward the car.
In June 2015, Gypsy and her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, were charged with murder after Dee Dee Blanchard was found dead. Gypsy was granted parole earlier in September this year.
Gypsy was freed from the Correctional Center in Missouri. She declared herself prepared for freedom in an interview done prior to her release. She has already served around 85 percent of her sentence.
She pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced to ten years in jail. Godejohn, who was the boyfriend of Gypsy, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2019 following his trial conviction for first-degree murder.
Gypsy was thought to be suffering from a number of major health issues prior to her arrest. But she was the victim of Munchausen by proxy, which is a form of child abuse that involves a guardian exaggerating or inducing illness to gain sympathy.
How Dee Dee Manipulated People Around Her
Dee Dee Blanchard, mother of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, has been manipulating people around her by claiming that her daughter is suffering from a serious illness.
Her mother convinced everyone that her daughter was a sick adolescent with the thinking of a seven-year-old. She also claimed that her child had muscular dystrophy, leukemia, and other medical issues.
Gypsy remembered fighting back with her mother, telling her that she didn’t have any such conditions. Her mother, on the other hand, would never listen to her and became irritated with Gypsy. She has used Gypsy and manipulated the people around her to gain attention and sympathy.
Their bond ended in 2015, when Gypsy broke free from her deranged mother’s control by allowing her internet boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to sneak into their home and stab Dee Dee, leading to her death.
Titania Gisclair, a family friend who went to high school with Dee Dee and remained close with Gypsy throughout her seven-year stretch, said that some may find it odd how her mother was able to manipulate everyone, including the doctors, with her lie.
She says that she can understand it well because she has also witnessed it.
Gypsy’s first date after the release
Gypsy was seen leaving the Missouri hotel on the first day of her freedom after being in prison for eight years. The couple made their first stop at an Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse in Liberty, Missouri, just outside Kansas City, to buy Gypsy two new pairs of sneakers.
When asked about the plans for the day, she replied happily that there were a lot. She is very happy to be back in a normal life with the love of her life, Anderson. The couple is set to attend the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium for an unlikely meeting with Taylor Swift.
Gypsy was released days after Christmas, so Anderson and her family are gathering to welcome her home and recreate the holiday for her. Anderson said that he had bought many presents to gift his wife for her first Christmas after eight years.
He also said that the couple will be having a romantic night out, and he will be taking his wife for a spa session, too.
In an interview before her release, she claimed that she wanted to prevent people in violent situations from committing murder. Although killing the person who is assaulting you may appear to be your only option, there are always alternatives.
She is planning to document the story of her childhood and the trauma she suffered due to her mother’s cruel decisions.
