Girls Band Cry, an upcoming original 3DCG anime series produced by Toei Animation, finally unveiled a key visual poster and its first-ever teaser trailer on 20 December 2023.
With the series’ official release date of April 2024 revealed in the teaser, the anime is almost ready to air on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11. Alongside this information, the list of additional staff for the original animation production was also announced.
When Girls Band Cry was first announced in April 2023, it was unclear if it would be a television show or movie. However, nine animated music videos were posted to YouTube between May and December, and a fifth single is scheduled for release on 28 February 2024. Nameless Name, No Rhyme No Reason, White Drizzle in Gloom, Ideal Paradox, and Bleeding Hearts are a few of the names of tracks released so far.
The main characters are the girls of the Togenashi Togeari band, who are played by the actresses: Rina as vocalist Nina Iseri, Yuuri as guitarist Momoka Kawaragi, Mirei as drummer Subaru Awa, Nagito as keyboardist Tomo Ebizuka and Shuuri as bassist Rupa.

The Anime Storyline and Staff
As previously stated, Girls Band Cry is an original television anime series, which means that the storyline of the series is not derived from any source material. Therefore, except for the storyline details that Toei Animation has released thus far, viewers have little idea what to anticipate from the series.
Toei Animation describes the anime as follows: “The main character drops out of high school in her second year and aims to enter a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs.”
The world has let them down all the time and nothing is going as planned in the lives of the main characters. However, they believe in what they love, and therefore they continue to sing together.
Kazuo Sakai, who was a director for Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Episode 9, Love Live! Sunshine!! And Mushi-Uta is set to direct the anime. Jukki Hanada is also part of the Love Live! Sunshine!! the team is handling the series composition, while Nari Teshima is in charge of the character designs.
Mari Kondō and Jae Hoon Jung are the CGI directors, while Kenji Tamai, known for his works in agehasprings, Sing “Yesterday” for Me and Samurai Flamenco, is composing the music along with Yūsuke Tanaka, credited for music accompaniment.
What is Toei Animation?
Toei Animation Co., Ltd. is a Japanese animation studio controlled by its namesake, Toei Company. Originally called Japan Animated Films, it was later renamed after being acquired by the animators Kenzō Masaoka and Zenjirō Yamamoto, who started it in 1948.
The most well-known works by Toei Animation are critically acclaimed anime series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Saint Seiya, and Slam Dunk, as well as the yearly Pretty Cure magical girl series. Among its most recent creations are Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure and the original net animation of Akuma-kun.
