All six episodes of season 2 of Vigil are out for streaming. The fans can finally get to know the truth about what is happening in Dundair and who had control of the drone that killed multiple members of the military.
It was a twisted plot that was laid out meticulously in the season. The fans finally have their culprits as another case for Kristen and Amy comes to an end.
But who is behind the murders? Why did they kill the military members? And what is next for the main duo of the show? In this article, we will see what went down in Vigil season 2 ending.
Who committed the Dundair killings?
Towards the end of S2, it was evident that the drone killings were under a plot of a bigger conspiracy. Eliza Russell is the blameworthy one, as she was behind the RPAS and was the one who shot the military members.
But it was not her decision. Derek McGabe and Marcus Grainger, air vice marshals, instructed her to pull the trigger.
When the show began, Wes Harper was killed by Russell, but he smartly made it look like it was self-defense. She was placed under an armed guard but went missing later on.
On the other hand, Kristen saw Ross meet McCabe at a hidden location, where Sutherland was killed by McCabe, and then he injured Kristen, sending her to the hospital.
Amy Returns
Amy came back to Scotland and took control of the investigation on home turf. McCabe and Russell were chased by cops.
Amy locates Russell, who is being captured by Ramsay, at a safe place. We saw her finally confessing to Amy that she manipulated Sahiba to steal the RPAS console and that she had Chapman killed because he was searching for the missing RPAS. We Harper was blackmailing her, so she killed him and hired Ross Sutherland.
She also accepted that Dundair was a fake program to make a case for the UK to enter the war formally against Jabat Al-Huria against Wudyan. So many people had to die because they wanted to make it look real and not an accident.
McCabe was paying her, and she did it for money, Russell said. The stock prices shot quickly as the UK looked to enter the war in Wudyan.
Russell’s off-the-record statement
Off the record, Russell said that she was made to commit murders by services. Ramsay assured Amy that they were not in it, and he was not in it.
On the other hand, Amy realized that she was hired by Sutherland and not Russell. On the contrary, Grainger was hired by him, who is a friend of Sutherland, the one she’s covering for.
Ramsay aided Silva in getting the evidence that was needed to put Grainger down. Sabiha was already aware of her father’s Wudyan trip before him.
Grainger realized that he had been out and about, and he confessed that the choice he made to kill his mates was a decision made for the greater good.
His and Russell’s trial was held behind closed doors, and Firas Zaman, the journalist, was allowed to make a statement.
Both of them were convicted of treason. Russel got a term of a minimum of 30 years, while Grainer was given a minimum sentence of 45 years with a life sentence, indicating that he was likely to die behind bars.
