My Life With The Walter Boys has just been released on Netflix, and it’s safe to say that this was a turbulent ride with not only love, interests, emotions, relationships, and heartbreak but also in terms of the journey that we went on.
The show was focusing on Jackie as she moved out of the city following her family being killed in a tragic accident. We saw the city girl turn into a country girl and get in the way of two brothers whose relationship was already on rocky roads.
With an ending that twisted everything on its head, let’s do a My Life With The Walter Boys Ending Explained and breakdown all that there was to take away from this Netflix show.
Jackie Was More Suited To Cole Than Alex
Jackie and Cole were far better suited than Jackie and Alex ever were. Although Cole and Alex were the opposites, and Alex was there to stick up for Jackie when she needed him to, Cole would often let her down.
I actually feel like Jackie changed Cole for the better. Whereas Alex didn’t really change by being with Jackie, he just became extremely full-on.
Cole bettered himself because he wanted to be with Jackie. He got his head more screwed on and showed that there were deep feelings that were there between them. But he didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to break his brother’s heart. What happened with the whole page situation?
Alex was a bit too much in the way that he was with Jackie, and I never got the impression that she cared as deeply for him as she did for Cole. All like she was even as attracted to him as she was to Cole. I just wanted to get that out there now. Plus, the springing of the whole “I love you” was a bit cringeworthy, but anyway, let’s get into the ending.
My Life With The Walter Boys Ending Explained
So, by the time we’d reached the final episode of My Life With The Walter Boys, we saw that Jackie was happy with Alex. However, some doubts were present in her mind on whether she truly wanted to be with him, as she didn’t know how to feel about Cole.
As in episode 9, Cole said to Jackie, “I can’t want you,” meaning that he didn’t want to hurt his brother by admitting his feelings for her whilst they were together. But that wouldn’t be able to stop him from caring about her on the inside whilst it was burning up. So that was something that was playing on her mind.
Will and Haley had decided to get married on the ranch following them, realizing that they actually wanted to be with one another and they were stronger together. And we saw that Jackie was taking control of all of the arrangements, as that was something which was a strong suit of hers.
During this time, we saw that the bouquet of flowers that she had ordered was destroyed by the dog as they were left on the front porch. This meant that she had to find some more. Cole took her off to find some for the wedding, and it was during the party that those specific flowers were said to be a symbol of unrequited love.
So the fact that Cole picked them out and he and Jackie touched hands and had a moment whilst they were doing so showed that there was a meaning behind him taking them there.
There was another moment during the wedding where, when Cole was giving his speech as best man, He said a line about Will and Halley’s relationship: “When you meet your person, nothing else matters.” And at this moment, it cuts to Cole looking over at Jackie. So, it was most certainly alluding to the fact that there were feelings between them even though she was with Alex.
It never truly felt like there was any real level of romance between Alex and Jackie. All of the tension and electricity was coming from Cole and her.
Jakie And Cole Share A Kiss
This whole tension climaxed in the season finale when she was helping Benny pack for New York, and underneath the shirt that he was looking for, she found the teapot that broke earlier in the season that Cole mended and was actually going to give to her. But he didn’t because he saw her kissing Alex.
Upon finding this, she went to the workshop that Cole was in, questioned him on why he did it, and from there, they embraced and kissed as she saw that there was a soft side to the character and he did something that meant so much to her.
All the time that this was going on, Alex passed out in bed due to drinking too much, following Jackie not telling him that she loved him back. When Alex woke up in the morning, he went to her room and found a note which simply said I’m sorry and it cut to her uncle Richard, who visited for the wedding on a plane with Benny and Jackie heading for New York.
Jakie Goes Back
As it seemed as though she had decided to leave the new family, she found something that she even referred to them as on the night of the wedding. Something which you could never have imagined earlier on due to her wanting to be known as Howard.
So it showed that she must have felt guilty over kissing Cole and didn’t want to get between the brothers who had a newly mended relationship, even though her departure in itself is something that would most likely cause just as many problems.
With her being on the plane, it cut to her turning her phone off and looking down at the screen where Richard was then on the phone, saying how he had nothing to do with the decision that was made. So it seems like she felt so guilty over what happened and realized that she wanted to go back to what her former life was like.
However, without her family being present, it might be something that she struggles to deal with. I imagine we’ll see how she’s going to deal with it all in the next season of the show.
Tara, Richard, And Nick
Outside of Jackie’s main arm of the story, there were a few other loose ends that were tied up. For example, it seemed as though Tara was getting it on with Richard, and they actually seemed well-suited.
But her ex Nick appeared in her tent and said that he declined the job in London in order to be with her, something which I don’t actually feel like she really wanted after the night of the wedding as she realized that there was probably more chemistry with Richard than there ever was with Neck.
Erin And Olivia
We also saw that Erin was finally living a happier life by doing what she wanted and having the fun that she felt. She was always prevented from having due to her mother applying pressure on her to be successful following her father’s death.
Plus, we saw her repair her relationship with Olivia, something which I don’t think she actually should have done. She went behind her back massively, and I don’t think I would have accepted it as easily as what she did.
Will, Catherine, And George
In terms of the ranch and the fact that Catherine and George were struggling to keep up with payments, it seemed like Will had an idea to tamp part of the land into some kind of holiday destination and event setting.
The stunning scenery was something that was always mentioned when people would go there, so he thought that it was a good way of monetizing the land in a different way other than farming. While also utilizing his business degree and allowing his parents to keep a hold of it. It seemed like Richard was going to be the person who was investing, so it does keep the connection still there.
Alex And Kylie
It was clear to see that Kylie definitely liked Alex, but he just didn’t see it. I would say that he was probably more suited to her than Jackie, and they had more in common, but he quite literally broke her heart in the final episode, where he called her cool and said that she was basically a dude.
There’s definitely a way that the show could pick up the story when Season 2 does return. So it just all depends on if there’s an appetite for it to come back.
