Sherina quickly objects that she is no longer Hera, though Dantalian does not understand her meaning. As a former ruler, Sherina hesitates to give blessings casually. Yet Dantalian bows ready to accept, showing resolute commitment.
Sherina protests her child-like pronunciation may not do it properly. But Dantalian insists he does not mind. Sherina reluctantly performs the ritual words, blessing him in her new name.
Dissatisfied, perhaps expecting physical change, Dantalian offers to share his magic but Sherina refuses as a child’s body could not contain pure dark forces without consequence.
Upset, Dantalian takes his leave after telling Sherina to bless others also. Only then does she realize she blessed him to end the situation insincerely without comprehending the meaning? Her hesitation displays lingering imprints from her previous role that a child has not wholly replaced.
To avoid further premature blessings, Sherina decides to remain close to Charente and Deshar for guidance. Her blessing of Dantalian showed she did not fully comprehend the depth and implications.
Now she aims to proceed more cautiously when bestowing something so meaningful.
Sherina realizes Dantalian left the palace grounds without triggering alarms, suspecting this is because the magic circle on his hand allows exit independent of external magical defenses.
In other words, the circle empowers Dantalian to survive without drawing on outside power sources.
Knowing restricting Dantalian requires preventing all inner magic use, Sherina decides to bolster the estate’s protective enchantments. She wishes to repay the Clown family for their constant, selfless protection through strengthening security.
Some time passed after the incident. Sherina requests to stay by Charente’s side, as Deshar is occupied. Charente is puzzled by her plea, unsure of her motives. Sherina only wants proximity to a Clown for security reasons.

Though confused, Charente allows it as Sherina aims to be near protection while strengthening defenses after Dantalian’s unchecked exit. By bolstering safety, she hopes to repay the Clowns’ lifelong guardianship.
It’s been a week of Sherina enhancing magical barriers, and in that time Dantalian has not visited. Sherina recalls curses placed on meddlesome archmages, and as both Sherina and Hera, these apply to her. She knows informing all of the precautions is vital when her departure arrives.
Charente agrees but asks Sherina to remain stationary so as to not disturb him. He calls for an attendant to bring Sherina a golden pacifier for amusement.
