Hajime Isayama
Hajime Isayama was born on August 29, 1988 in Oyama, Oita prefecture in Japan. Ever since a young age, Isayama was passionate about becoming a mangaka, so he started participating in manga when he was in high school.

Attack on Titan peaked after readers found out about its story. It got even more popular when its anime was released in April 2013, which increased its manga sales.
In April 2014, According to an Oricon report, 30 million volumes of the Attack on Titan were sold. By the end of November 2014, the manga had 45 million copies in print. Fast forward to four years, in November 2018, the manga had over 86 million copies in circulation worldwide.
In December 2019, the number had increased to 100 million, and By September 2022, the manga had over 110 million copies in circulation. And in the last circulation period, November 2023, it had over 140 million copies in circulation.
The series’ twelfth collected volume was given a first printing of 2.2 million copies, which made Attack on Titan the one of only three manga series to ever get an initial print by surpassing 2 million, the other two being One Piece and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Attack on Titan Volume 13 has the highest initial first print of the series by November 2023, with over 2,750,000 copies sold. It is also the first print-run record for Kodansha. Attack on Titan was the second highest-selling manga series of 2013, with over 15,933,801 copies sold in a single year.
In the first half of 2014, the manga was the best-selling manga, ranked 1st. It even ended One Piece’s five-year reign as the highest-selling series in that period. Isayama was surprised and even thanked the readers for it.
