The multi-talented master of home cooking and many other crafts, Martha Stewart, is well known for her superb holiday decorating abilities. But one hosting custom of hers sticks out above the rest: turkeys.
Stewart revealed in an exclusive interview with The Kitchn that she decorates her turkey to the nines for Thanksgiving, using a variety of different styles.
Given that the turkey serves as the focal point of the holiday spread, Martha Stewart’s method may not seem all that unusual, but it does have a captivating element.
She elaborated when asked about the details of her Thanksgiving table décor this year. “Well, I own a sizable assortment of turkeys. “I have turkeys that are taxidermy, glass, and pottery,” Stewart claimed. ” Probably a lot of those will be put on my long table, and then I have other tables in a smaller dining room, and I have a porch now that we can eat in.”
Martha Stewart has all the turkeys for Thanksgiving
Stuffed taxidermy turkeys are among Martha Stewart’s collection of turkeys, in addition to adorable ceramic ones.
Stewart, a longtime devotee of the famous bird, revealed through her collaboration with Pure Leaf, “I used to live on Turkey Hill Road, and my house was called Turkey Hill, and I started my big turkey collection then.”
Every Thanksgiving, Stewart maintains this custom, providing a wide variety. She asked fans to watch her Roku show, in which she unveiled a gigantic chocolate mold that produced two enormous chocolate turkeys for the holiday.
These will be placed on the table to create a festive display of different items with turkey themes, along with glass and pottery turkeys.
Martha Stewart is not having the Thanksgiving dinner this year
Known as the “Queen of Thanksgiving,” Martha Stewart has taken a surprising turn this year for the occasion. In an interview with “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Stewart disclosed that she decided to “cancel” the Thanksgiving meal she had originally scheduled.
Several guests had to cancel, and she was feeling overburdened with the traditional turkey feast preparations, so she decided to change the plans.
She explained the situation to Clarkson, saying, “I called up my chef friend and said, ‘We’re not doing Thanksgiving.’ Nine guests canceled because somebody got sick.” Stewart acknowledged that she was “turkeyed out,” having already prepared 14 turkeys for her TV show.
Rather than throwing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, she revealed her other idea, which was to go to “about five different homes” of friends and enjoy a variety of Thanksgiving fare.
The lifestyle expert gained the title of “Thanksgiving queen” during an appearance on the “Today” show last year, cementing her association with the holiday for many years.
Stewart accepted his sash and scepter after being given them. The event also provoked conversations about Mariah Carey’s reputation as the Christmas queen due to her well-known Christmas song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Considering her title, Stewart rejected the idea of ignoring Thanksgiving and stressed its importance.
After accepting the crown, she exclaimed, “Here’s to our pioneers!” and then wrote a touching note to Mariah Carey, saying, “And to Mariah, I still love you!”
She said that she has prepared “60 Thanksgivings, at least, maybe more” in her lifetime during a 2020 visit on the “Today” show. Although Stewart is not participating in the custom this year, she has kindly offered advice in the past on how to prepare an exquisite Thanksgiving meal.
She released a holiday edition of Martha-Logue, her digital publication, last year and gave thorough advice on choosing the “perfect turkey.” She suggested ordering well in advance, going with a “free-range, hormone-free turkey,” and serving each guest 1.5 pounds of turkey.
