An unsettling new documentary on Love Has Won, a conspiracy-theorizing spiritual group led by a New Age cult leader who went by the name “Mother God,” and her dedicated followers in Colorado will focus on her.
Love Has Won: The Cult Of Mother God, an upcoming three-part HBO series, will delve into the life and demise of Amy Carlson, a former McDonald’s manager who claimed to be a celestial person on a mission to redeem humanity.
Carlson’s mummified body was discovered in a Colorado home’s fairy-light-filled chamber in 2021, sprinkled with cosmetics. At forty-five, she had passed away from persistent colloidal silver ingestion, alcohol abuse, and anorexia.
Bodycam footage of Saguache County police officers showing up to the property with a search warrant, just before they found Carlson’s body, opens the new, unsettling trailer for the docuseries.

Introducing himself as the “Father of All Creation,” Castillo tells the docuseries viewers that Carlson called him “brilliant.” He acknowledges, “I had never heard that phrase in my life,” and continues, “The pressure comes from God when He loves you.”
Carlson was portrayed as a protective, maternal figure who gave birth to creation, but ex-members have charged that she was abused and brainwashed. Videos of her yelling profanities, grabbing a cat by its fur, and supposedly putting a little child in a closet for acting out have surfaced over the years.
Carlson appears malnourished and has an odd blue hue to her complexion in the unsettling last images that were uploaded to Facebook. “She consumed a significant amount of colloidal silver,” a woman in the series says.
Quack doctors have irresponsibly promoted colloidal silver, a material made up of small silver particles floating in a liquid, as a “cure-all” dietary supplement to treat anything from cancer to COVID-19.
Colloidal silver can damage the stomach, liver, and kidneys and can make it harder for medication to be absorbed. No recognized medicinal advantages are associated with colloidal silver use. Agyria, a frequently irreversible blue-grey skin discolouration, can also result from an accumulation of silver in the body.
Due to Love Has Won’s promotion of colloidal silver use and online sales through its e-commerce business Gaia’s Whole Healing Essentials, the FDA in the United States issued a warning notice.
Carlson’s death was caused in part by her compulsive use of colloidal silver. At the time of her death in California, the 5-foot-4 leader weighed only 75 pounds. Sometime after her passing, her devotees moved her body to a Colorado house and erected a temporary shrine there.
She had Christmas lights hanging around her corpse and was covered in a sleeping bag when the body was found on April 28, 2021. Her empty holes were covered in glitter and her eyes had rotted away. Following their arrest, seven of her supporters were accused of abusing a corpse. After authorities discovered a two-year-old and a thirteen-year-old inside the home, they were also charged with child abuse.
Later, all accusations were withdrawn, and Love Has Won managed to develop a loyal following and sell contentious goods for hundreds of dollars without Carlson’s guidance. Hannah Olson directed the film Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother, which includes interviews with Carlson’s relatives and former members.

In the second episode, Amy shares her life as a mother of three children, delves into her connection with Jason—the last Father God—and examines her history of drug and alcohol misuse. When Amy gets sick, her acolytes tell her that she is absorbing humanity’s suffering and that she must forgo outside medical attention to fulfil her purpose.
She starts consuming more and more colloidal silver, which the group says has therapeutic benefits. Amy’s sister attempts to step in by phoning the police, but Amy is taken to Hawaii by the members of Love Has Won.
