Sammy Hagar’s upcoming summer tour aims to recreate the spirit of Van Halen.
Hagar will be performing on The Best of All Worlds Tour with his bandmates in The Circle, drummer Jason Bonham, bassist Michael Anthony, and founding member of Van Halen, Hagar. Guitar master Joe Satriani, who previously worked with Hagar and Anthony in the band Chickenfoot, will be joining them.
Starting in West Palm Beach, Florida, on July 13, the tour will visit 28 cities before coming to an end in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 31. Loverboy is scheduled to perform first. On Wednesday, November 15, at 10 a.m. local time, pre-sales will begin.
On Friday, November 17, at 10 a.m. local time, general on-sale will begin. For more information, go to RedRocker.com.
Sammy Hagar’s summer tour will treat listeners with memorable songs
About the tour announcement, Hagar said, “We brought out a few of those songs, and the fans immediately embraced them from the first riffs.” “The music we composed will live on long after we are gone. We should take advantage of this opportunity to go out and share that music with the fans.”
After David Lee Roth left Van Halen in 1985, Hagar, then 76 years old, took over as lead singer. Despite Hagar’s 1996 departure from the group, he returned for a tour in 2004.
Hagar recently revealed that at his annual birthday bash last month in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, he and Anthony decided to play songs from their time with Van Halen.
Recently, newly remastered versions of the band’s four “Van Hagar” albums—5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995)—have been reissued.
Hagar expressed his amazement as he thought back to the upcoming 20th anniversary of performing these songs on the ’04 Best of Both Worlds Tour with Van Halen. Joe’s addition to the group will allow them to delve deeper into those years, with songs from Hagar’s whole discography to be included.
Hagar and Michael Anthony are particularly excited about the new collection because of the sincere positive reception it has received from both new and returning fans.
Sammy Hagar’s reunion with the Van Halen
After touring with David Lee Roth for a while, Sammy Hagar started thinking about his old Van Halen teammates. In late 2003, acting on a tip from a mutual friend, he got in touch with Alex.
The following year, 2004, Van Halen went on tour with Hagar and also put out a greatest hits album called “The Best of Both Worlds,” which was a 2-CD set that featured three brand-new Van Halen songs featuring Hagar.
More difficulties arose during the next tour, most notably Eddie Van Halen’s purported relapse into alcoholism. Hagar and Van Halen’s relationship deteriorated to such an extent that they had to use separate charter jets for the tour—one for Eddie and Alex and another for Hagar and Michael Anthony.
Eddie wrecked his guitar on stage during the tour’s last, somewhat infamous performance in Tucson, Arizona, sending pieces flying into the crowd. Tensions behind the scenes increased as a result of this incident, making a new album recording impossible.
Hagar said that Eddie had changed significantly and was no longer the same person in an interview that was later documented in his 2011 autobiography.
