Whatever team you side with is up to, but while you’re here, let us tell more about the show, Guy’s Grocery Games, and where it is actually filmed.
Guy’s Grocery Games Filming Locations
Santa Rosa, California
The makers of the show call the supermarket where the reality series is filmed the “Flavourtown Market,” and it looks real enough for many of us to question if it actually exists somewhere or if it is just a set created specifically for GGG.
The fact that the show is shot inside a grocery store and that the chefs have to run to get their hands on the ingredients instead of just having them placed right in front of them are two big reasons why the show is so unique.
And even though the show has been airing since 2013, there still seems to be confusion regarding whether the supermarket that features in every episode of the show is real or not. The Flavourtown Market is located in Santa Rosa, California, and it is a set, but it is also not.
The shooting for the show has been done inside this warehouse-turned-supermarket since season two of the series. Before this warehouse was located and turned into an actual store, the first season of GGG was filmed in a real, working grocery store, Field’s Market, in West Hills, Los Angeles.
The current Flavourtown Market functions exactly like a real grocery store, with the staff ordering goods and produce in bulk and the 15,500 square-foot warehouse storing way over 20,000 items in it. This, obviously, does not mean that one can shop there, but still, the place is stocked with fresh goods, that’s for sure.
The entire process of turning the Santa Rosa warehouse into the Flavourtown Market that it is today took around two weeks, which must have been hectic, but the work had to be done. With such wide-spaced aisles and an entirely too big space, the market has become a perfect spot for the filming of GGG.
The supermarket space has been created keeping in mind the show and its requirements, which is why you would notice the wider aisles that provide running space, brighter lights so products can be easily seen, and possibly every food you would find in a grocery store.
And don’t you worry because the producers of the show have revealed that of the thousands of goods and produce that they order, the ones about to go bad or ones nearing their expiry dates are donated to a good cause to food banks around.
Even the food scrap is given up as animal food. Such a fun show that manages to treat food products right makes it even more fun to watch.
