The Prison Confessions of Gipsy Rose Blanchard, a new docuseries that will air on Lifetime, will finally feature Gipsy Rose Blanchard’s side of the story. The Act, a drama series on Hulu, is one of several TV shows and documentaries that have attempted to tell the true-crime story that led to Blanchard’s imprisonment. However, the 32-year-old is now launching a three-part docuseries.
In a press release, Blanchard stated, “After a lifetime of silence, I finally get to use my voice to share my story and speak the truth.” I am fearless in revealing the hidden aspects of my life that I have kept hidden up until this point because I am authentically me.
After admitting guilt to the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee, Blanchard was initially given a 10-year prison sentence. She claimed that Dee Dee had abused her by purposefully making her ill. During Blanchard’s trial, she falsely stated that Blanchard had muscular dystrophy, leukemia, and asthma and that her mother had Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Dee Dee was planned to be murdered by Blanchard and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, who killed her in her house with a knife. He was given a life sentence after being found guilty of first-degree murder. Last week, she received her parole release.
The 32-year-old Blanchard attracted a lot of media attention during her trial and was featured in the HBO documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest” and the Joey King-starring Hulu series “The Act.”
After being found guilty of helping her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn kill her mother “Dee Dee” Blanchard in 2015, Blanchard was freed from prison on December 28. She is now at last free from prison, and her side of the story is finally being told.
Viewers will witness Blanchard’s account of her phone and in-person interviews while incarcerated leading up to her parole hearing in each two-hour episode.
