The sword will cost a lot, but as Asel and Marya will fund the project, Ronan won’t be concerned about the expense. However, the catch is that the sword won’t be ready for half a month, leaving Ronan wondering what to do until then.
Ronan recalls Instructor Navirose’s classes at Gallelion Hall as a reason to visit the upperclassmen’s training center. He hesitated before because he lacked a proper weapon, but now armed with a temporary one, he decides to take the risk.
Navirose catches him upon arrival, scolding him for missing class and demanding an explanation. While Ronan cries in pain, Navirose is firm. She insists he follows her, and as they walk, they come across Khardan, a teaching assistant, overhearing a conversation about himself. In Chapter 22 of “Academy’s Genius Swordmaster,” Ronan, the main character, eagerly awaits a new sword from the empire’s best blacksmith. Since the blacksmith is so skilled, even Asel and Marya get other blacksmiths involved in the project. Ronan doesn’t seem concerned about the cost since it isn’t his money.
He realizes, however, that his new sword will not be ready for about a month, so he wonders what to do in the meantime. Ronan considers visiting Gallelion Hall, a training center for upperclassmen. Navirose holds classes there, but he hesitates because he needs to bring a real weapon. Now that he has a temporary weapon, he decides to go there.
He is scolded by Instructor Navirose when he arrives and demands an explanation for skipping class. In pain, Ronan says he has his reasons, and Navirose instructs him to follow her. In the sparring center, Navirose introduces Ronan to the class. While running into Khardan, a teaching assistant, Ronan accidentally overhears a conversation about him.
The students are curious about him since he got second place in the first year and skipped a grade. In the past, Ronan has asked for a favor from Adeshan, a second-year teaching assistant known as “The Iron Lady.” Now, Adeshan is asking for a favor from him.
Navirose and Adeshan talk, revealing Adeshan’s impressive background as a commanding general. Based on a favor Adeshan asked for in his past life, Ronan wonders whether he should pursue tailoring instead of swordsmanship. It takes a funny turn when Adeshan acts more like a maid than a teaching assistant, constantly running errands.
Ronan finds herself with unforeseen responsibilities. Ronan accepts Khardan’s invitation to spar as a third-year student, but he requests to reschedule. Khardan criticizes a fellow student for bringing the incorrect weapon to their sparring practice as the chapter comes to a close. Ronan is funny, but as he mulls about his past and future choices, the tension increases.
Ronan’s new sword is being forged by the best blacksmith in town, but it will take him nearly two weeks to receive it. He eventually makes up to Gallelion Hall, where he is reprimanded by Instructor Navirose for missing class. He has been missing courses, so when he does show up, he gets reprimanded.
At Gallelion Hall, Ronan is introduced to the class. While some pupils find him impressive, others have doubts about his skills. Ronan discovers Adeshan, a second-year teaching assistant, is someone from his past when she arrives late. This leads to a humorous turn of events as Adeshan finds herself doing errands like a maid.
Before Ronan agrees to spar with third-year student Khardan, he wants to consider it. At the end of the chapter, Khardan becomes enraged with a different student for sparring with the incorrect weapons. Ronan considers his past and makes decisions about his desires for the future.
