Why? Because he wants his ‘children’ to live normal lives, or at least live without the fear of being consumed by their desires. So, he wants to use the sword to end himself and the Child of Day.
By killing these two, he might free the villains from their curse. And if he frees them from the curse, the endless feud might finally end. Or it starts a new feud.
Again, all we know is that Moros is an ancient spirit. The one that terrified even Unkillable and knew a lot about Mythical Era stuff. He could be The Child of Night. Or he could be one of Night’s first children, one of the first villains.
If it follows Greek mythology, then Moros would be the son of Night (a.k.a. Nyx). Yes, He is anything but the only Child of Night. However, in this case, the Child of Day would also be the grandchild of Night, as Day aka. Hemera is Nyx’s daughter. Now, that is assuming the term “child” is being used in the literal sense.
If it isn’t meant in the literal sense and the “Child of Night” is Nyx and the “Child of Day” is Hemera themselves, then Nyx and Hemera would be at odds, which doesn’t really align with the mythos, which means we can’t fall back on the Greek legends. And honestly, that might be for the best.
