The story is about a young girl named Anni, who surprisingly finds it hard to be around her friends. When the story starts, we see her saying that she does not like uncomfortable situations and that is why she cannot say anything unpleasant or get angry at the other person.
When someone from her class asks her to study together and she decides to ignore him, later she believes that she should have just said no because she has exams to study for, and thinks that she should call him and ask him to meet her later.

Later in the chapter, when one of Anni’s coworkers asks if she wants to join the others outside for a smoke break, she bluntly declines. Taken aback, the coworker remarks that he assumed Anni was a smoker since she’s working alone while everyone else is out having fun.
He pointedly asks if it’s difficult for her to pretend to work hard when others are on break and if it’s not lonely laboring by herself when the rest take short respites. He justified his presumptions by claiming he could sense everything about her.
Soon after, another exhausted coworker emerges asking Anni to close up shop early. Although Anni had agreed to work until 10 pm, her peer protests that Anni never helps when it’s busy yet swoops in during slower times, shirking her share of the load.
Later that night after closing, Anni glances at her watch and sees it’s already midnight. She figures her roommates must be asleep by now, so she’ll just quickly wash her face instead of taking a full bath.
The cutting remarks from Anni’s colleagues reveal simmering tensions and resentments beneath the surface at her new job. Their probing questions and unfair accusations put Anni on the defensive, even as she stands firm in upholding her scheduled responsibilities.
The interactions illuminate Anni’s outsider status among the tight-knit staff and the challenges she faces integrating into the workplace culture. As Anni heads home exhausted after her long shift, she’ll likely reflect on how to boost camaraderie with her peers.

Later in the story, we see that she asks her boyfriend to come because she wants to talk about what he was doing last night because he went early and who was the girl with him. However, when he actually comes to ask her what she wants from him, however, she thinks that if she does speak up, it is going to ruin the mood and she does not want that to happen.
Lost in contemplation, Anni muttered aloud that the troubles she once endured weren’t merely temporary nuisances, but instead felt like her spirit was being crushed.
Without warning, a sharp pang sliced through Anni’s stomach, causing her to double over in agony. Her knees buckled as the searing pain overwhelmed her senses. Anni collapsed onto the cold pavement, the jarring impact barely registering through the haze of discomfort.
