Dragula, a television series by the Boulet Brothers, is returning to Shudder for a fifth season. Weeks before Season 4’s finale, which debuted on the streaming service on December 21, came word of this development. After spending its first few seasons hopping from network to network, the drag competition show has found a stable home on the streamer.
Eleven different drag performers battle for a cash reward and the title of “Dragula: The World’s Next Drag Supermonster” in this critically praised series, which is presented by the drag duo Boulet Brothers. Contestants are required to participate in a variety of events each week, including costume design, makeup effects, and performances centered around the show’s four guiding concepts: “drag,” “filth,” “horror,” and “glamour.”
Following the conclusion of each show, a winner is selected, and the other competitors compete in an “extermination challenge” that gauges how committed each queen is to continuing in the competition. Previous extermination tasks included an overnight stay in a spooky, haunted mansion and skydiving.
Every episode ends with the Boulet Brothers performing a planned “killing off” of the loser. Along with David Sigurani serving as executive producer and Nathan Noyes joining as director, the fraternal team contributes to the series as writers, producers, and co-directors. Craig Engler, Emily Gotto, executive in charge, Nick Lazo, and producer Samuel Zimmerman are the executive producers for Shudder.
With a brand-new, cutting-edge set, a plethora of new, brilliant staff members, the most diverse ensemble in the show’s history, and the Boulets taking over as directors for the first time in seven years, Season 5 is expected to be the largest and worst yet, according to the official synopsis.
