Loki Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained
Fans of Loki have high hopes for the show’s future and the MCU as a whole after the finale of season 2, episode 4. Originally, Tom Hiddleston, the self-proclaimed God of Mischief, and his supporters had a scheme to repair the TVA’s temporary loom before its overloading. However, as things go, a major plot twist has made matters much more difficult.
The universe has been rapidly growing ever since Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), the true founder of the TVA and the architect of the Sacred Timeline, killed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) in the finale of Loki season 1. This has been demonstrated in earlier episodes of Loki season 2.
Because of this, the TVA itself is in danger due to the influx of new branching timelines, which is why characters like Loki, Sylvie, Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and others are searching for Victor Timely, a He Who Remains variation, who can assist them in stabilizing the TVA’s Temporal Loom. Is Victor dead?
The potential for Jonathan Majors’ character Victor Timely to become a powerful force as one of Kang’s variations was one of the most exciting aspects of Loki season 2. First, it is shown to us that Loki himself was the one who chopped him down in the first episode, supporting the idea that the entire TVA is caught in a temporal loop. Given that the time loom burst right after Victor passed away, there’s a chance that the entire story is restarted, raising the prospect that Victor may not actually die for a very long time.
Explosion Of The MCU Timeline
The Temporal Loom self-destructs in the absence of the through-put multiplier to prevent overloading, releasing a temporal energy wave that seems to kill Mobius, Sylvie, O.B., Loki, and everyone else in the TVA. That’s what the cut-to-black conclusion implies, anyway.
Since we don’t witness them dying, it begs the question: What has become of them? We believe the secret is in the graphic depiction of the explosion of the Temporal Loom. If you rewatch the explosion, the technicolor wave that emerges from the demolition of the loom resembles the TVA’s prune stick in terms of appearance.
If our theory is correct, Loki and company might have been cut down and sent to another location—or sites—if the blast had split them apart. So, did the creative team behind Loki see the detonation as a gigantic boom based on prunes? Have our heroes been dispersed throughout time and the multiverse?
Producer Kevin Wright of Loki claims that the events leading up to the Temporal Loom explosion had a significant influence and established the goal for Loki and his supporters in the next two episodes: “Well, reality has vanished. I believe that Loki will have to find a way to restore reality, and only time will reveal how he does it.”
Is Loki and Everyone Else Dead?
There is a serious fear that the entire TVA, including everyone within, has been destroyed now that the timeline has burst into enormous volumes of temporal energy and radiation. The very thing that Loki and his companions were attempting to stop has now occurred.
Consequently, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, every character from Loki season 2 has passed away. Kevin Wright promised audacity in an intriguing way that “everyone” would appear in Loki episodes 5 and 6, addressing the hypothesis that the explosion might have functioned similarly to pruning. Is it possible to fix the timeline?
It’s highly possible that in the upcoming episode, the MCU timeline will be restored in some way. With such an uncertain and unexpected finale, it is currently unknown how exactly to fix the MCU timeline.
The real surprise of the cliffhanger in Loki season 2, episode 4, is that it leaves us wondering where the program will go from here and how everything will be resolved moving forward, given that everyone and everything at the TVA appears to be gone (along with the multiverse as a whole). The best guess is that some new time loop or paradox will still exist, providing a means of restoring the chronology and temporal loom. Ultimately, two more episodes of season two of Loki remain to be broadcast. Thus, Loki will have a fresh approach going forward in the hopes of putting things back on course.
In any case, Loki season 2 on Disney+ is undoubtedly following the traditional Marvel Studios model. Generally speaking, the fourth episode is among the best and most unexpected chapters of the entire series. It’s important to note that several photos from the tease for Loki season 2 have not yet been revealed.
These include B-15 seeming to be a doctor, Casey walking down a little hallway, and Loki wearing a TVA jumpsuit—possibly an attempt to stabilize the Temporal Loom in the future. In addition, a picture of Loki at a jet ski dealership suggests that future episodes may depict Mobius’ beach.
Maybe the TVA staff will return to their original branch realities when the multiverse collapses, as there has been much discussion regarding Mobius’ reality and the reasons he hasn’t visited it. Aside from the TVA being completely destroyed, one of the more unexpected aspects was Victor Timely’s unexpected and equally tragic death.
Because of this, it does raise concerns about what type of future—if any—this Kang version will have for the remainder of Loki season 2. Timely will probably be seen again before the MCU switches to another Kang form because of some of the unanswered questions, notably Victor’s time paradox with O.B. and the origin of their shared knowledge of time and the multiverse.
