In the previous chapter, two old friends who haven’t seen each other in a long time reunite with warm greetings and a question in their hearts. Both of them acknowledge in their talk that they haven’t been thinking of one other, but they both maintain that they have missed each other enough to make up for it.
They are making jokes about it when something unexpected happens. A sudden ruckus directs their conversation toward a developing mystery narrative. Mid-conversation, a friend observes people who worship bad spirits nearby and becomes inquisitive about them. They find out there are three of them when our two protagonists are left out.

Recap
In “The Priest of Corruption,” chapter 28, there are several remarkable discoveries and several fascinating discussions. We see two characters, Marnak and Dakia, who haven’t seen each other in a while.
They both tell one other how much they’ve missed each other and wonder if the other feels the same way. Despite their denials, the other person contends that they were thinking about them sufficiently to offset their assertions that they hadn’t given each other any thought at all.
One of them asks a question during their conversation, but they demand something in return for their response. While they are speaking, they see someone leaving. There appears to be a disturbance occurring. How many people who worship evil spirits are hiding nearby, a character wonders. Not counting themselves, the other character informs them that there are three.
They become enraged when one of the figures is ignored by these demon worshipers. They talk about how horrible it is for the bad people to ignore someone. The primary focus now is on the rationale for these worshippers of evil spirits attacking merchants.
It seems that they were after a necklace owned by the chief of the merchant organization. The first character’s query is begged by the adherents’ ignorance of how the leader got the necklace.
The head of the merchant group was asked by someone from the Liberatio group to take the jewels. Liberatio is a secret society of followers of demonic spirits, and it appears that some of the characters in this chapter may be part of it as well. Liberatio seems to be going through internal strife, even though they don’t talk about it too much. Within Liberatio, there appear to be several tensions.
There is a new character presented in the next case. She utilizes dolls and worships something called Shaking String. They’ve seen a doll similar to the one they presume is the person in front of them, therefore, they’re thinking that it might be a doll.
Some of the people accompanying them are polite in answer to the priestess’s question since they are attempting to complete a task without her. They explain to her that they are acting on their desire. The priestess questions them about why they are so friendly, but she doesn’t get a satisfactory answer. At the end of the chapter, they say goodbye to one another and part ways.
A loud noise that sounds like someone yelling “Murder” is then heard. When the priestess becomes concerned, she orders the others to stop fleeing. They hear a massive boom at the end of the chapter, which resembles an avalanche. There appears to be a terrible incident occurring, and there is chaos and uncertainty.
This chapter mostly centers on a discussion among several people who belong to a secret club. They talk about their goals, objectives, and internal disputes inside the group. A new character, a priestess, is introduced to us in this chapter, and she talks about kindness and secrecy.
At the very end, something threatening happens. A startling noise is heard, and it becomes obvious that something is wrong. The reader is left wondering what will happen next because of this cliffhanger finish.
