MTV’s reality dating documentary show hosted by Nev and Ariel Schulman explores the human aspect of relationships the ups and downs of online dating. In Catfish: The TV Show, we see how several couples or, in some cases, “throuples” interact with each other via dating apps, and digital platforms and how they interact in real life when they actually meet.
A couple of decades ago, meeting someone online for a relationship was sort of frowned upon, but jump forward a couple of decades, and you’ll find that Millennials and Gen Z have actually embraced the use of these digital interactions to start relationships.
Sometimes these interactions go well, sometimes they go too well, the couple falls in love, marry, and has a family, and sometimes things don’t work out. And that’s the gist of a show like this. Now, without any further ado, let’s see what went down in the last episode.
Recap
This episode is about Jasmine, a woman who has had to deal with a lot of abandonment issues and has a lot of doubt about her capacity to maintain a relationship because dudes keep asking her out on dates only to ditch her. This has caused some deep emotional wounds on her self-esteem she needs to work on.
She thinks it is her fault, but we also have to consider her choices when it comes to picking a mate. So Nev and Kamie jump in to help her out on her latest date with a dude named Ryan.
Jasmine and Ryan have been texting, and calling each other, and things go well until Ryan disappears; he ghosts Jasmine for a month. So Nev and Kamie do their thing, track the dude down, and set up a meet, and as it turns out, Ryan had ghosted her for that long under the excuse that he’d been married.
Still, on camera, they talk about it and decide to give each other a chance. Now, it’s up for grabs if that’s going to work or not.
