Bodies Netflix Filming Locations
Bodies is a completely and entirely British production. The kind of series with the brand: “Original Netflix Series”. As such, the series was filmed completely in England, in several parts of London, its metropolitan districts, Leeds, Manchester, and its metro district, as well as Yorkshire and its surroundings.
The main photography for this series kicked off in May 2022 and concluded in October. With postproduction taking place immediately after. Now, let’s take a look at where they filmed this series in detail
As you will see, the producers and director chose all these places to give lots of ambiance to a time travel series that takes us three hundred years, as such, to give a sense of reality to the movie, architectural and aesthetic elements were needed to showcase how England evolved and transformed across the years.
We see Victorian-age streets and buildings, we see 1940s war-ravaged London, and we also see modern-day London and Manchester, which are now futuristic, rebuilt, and accommodated to the series’s narrative.
West Yorkshire
Large parts of exterior shots of this Netflix Original series were filmed in West Yorkshire and Bradford. We see lots of streets from Manningham, Burnett St., and the Bradford City Hall. Since most of the scenes took place at night, the cast and crew were allowed by the local authorities to block traffic and install big lights to film. There are also some traffic scenes that were shot in West Yorkshire’s Centenary Square.
West Yorkshire is a popular destination for filmmakers; many movies like Wild Child, The Dresser, and the Downton Abbey series are filmed in that region, whose architecture is attractive, as well as the local authorities give incentives for producers to take their business there to bolster the local economy.
Some scenes would make you believe that they were shot in London, but they were actually filmed in Yorkshire, like the scenes we see filmed at the Princes Quay Mall, the scenes in Kingston upon Hull, and those in Waterhouse Lane.
Bradford
In the Bradford area, cast and crew set up camp in Shipley, near Saltaire, a Victorian-architecture location, as well as the Salt Mills. This was done because the story takes place across several time periods: the 1800s, the 1930s and 1940s, and the 2050s.
Leeds
Indoor scenes were filmed in Leeds at the popular film studio Versa Leeds. That facility has about everything a filmmaker needs to bring a production to life: Four massive stages, several adjacent buildings for sound and video editing, a prop shop, and all the equipment required to make all sorts of audiovisual projects.
London
The capital city of the United Kingdom features many exterior and indoor shots in this Netflix Original Series. We can see some outdoor scenes of the Millennium Bridge. We can see the metropolitan area, as well as the greater London surroundings like Rotherham. Indoor shots were also filmed in Wentworth Woodhouse.
Manchester, York, and Lincolnshire
Greater Manchester is also featured in this production, where some streets like Bolton are featured. Also, Lincolnshire’s Kasbah and Henderson streets were also used for outdoor shots. Finally, some scenes that take place in docks, piers, and boatyards were filmed in York’s Lendal Bridge and its surrounding streets.
