Eric further explained that what is fun between the two is that these are two very different people and have similar experiences and similar trauma in their past, and that is what connects them, but their approach as investigators, even though they have different approaches.
The showrunner explained how they have different personalities while describing Magnum as someone who is romantic and a risk-taker, while Higgins is someone very guarded.
The series showrunner explained that if these two were similar, it would have been a boring relationship, but given how Higgins and Magnum are so different, they just make for fantastic chemistry.
As far as the second part of the fifth season is concerned, it would be an interesting dynamic of Rick’s ongoing relationship with Suzy Madison after he seemingly decided to delete the final emotional message to her as he was rescued from his kidnappers.
