Bringing a story like no other, APC Studios’ Obituary is a crime and comedy-drama that will start airing its episodes soon. With Siobhán Cullen as the main character, this Irish series has one of the most intriguing plots ever seen in its genre.
The Obituary’s storyline mostly centers on our 24-year-old daily worker, Elvira Clancy, who spends all her days writing obituaries for a newspaper. After the newspaper company experiences a sudden downfall, Elvira’s boss starts paying her based on the number of obituaries she writes. In a quest to earn more money, Clancy comes up with a plan that might just be filled with blood and deception.
Aside from Cullen, the cast of Obituary consists of Michael Smiley in the role of Ward Clancy, Ronan Raftery plays Emerson, David Ganly stars as Hughie Burns, Danielle Galligan plays Mallory, and Noni Stapleton portrays Garda Rose.
Obituary: About The Show
Elvira is hired to write obituaries at a well-known newspaper company. Over time, the company experiences some downfalls, causing them to start underpaying their employees. Since Elvira writes Obituaries once in a while and her work is not stable, her boss decides to start paying her each time she writes an Obituary instead of keeping her on Payroll.
As a joke, Clancy’s boss suggests she start killing people if she wants to earn more money, but little does he know that Elvira’s about to do exactly just that. After accidentally killing a person for the first time, Elvira is surprised to see that she feels an exciting rush of emotions within her body.
Her newfound bloodlust coerces her into killing more people. While it’s quite unethical, Elvira starts using these deaths as a way to increase the number of obituaries she gets to write at her job.
However, not every random person becomes Clancy’s target. Proving that she’s not your average serial killer, Elvira only kills people that she knows are involved in some kind of crime and are generally not good people. While that certainly doesn’t give her an excuse to go around creating more obituaries, it does help her feel good for removing troublemakers from society.
Instead of just using regular ways of killing, Elvira Clancy makes sure that each of her victims ends up with deaths that seem like an accident or natural death no matter what angle they’re viewed from. Her mundane and boring job as an obituary writer is finally much more interesting and rewarding.
The people of the town that Elvira lives in start to notice the increasing amounts of deaths. While they first just brush it off, it soon becomes obvious that these seemingly normal deaths are connected by something or someone sinister and clever.
Elvira’s newfound peaceful life is ruined when her newspaper company hires a detective to investigate the growing number of crafty deaths. This new correspondent not only seems to have sharp senses, but he also tends to strongly believe in conspiracy theories.
While Clancy initially fears that her work and hobby might be in danger of being caught, things are made worse when she starts falling for this conspiracy-loving detective. Unfortunately, Elvira and the detective’s love story is going to be anything but easy.
What makes Obituary’s plot intriguing is the fact that it has a fresh gothic plot that’s also filled with comedy and murder. Both of the main cast members of Obituary have great chemistry, and to know that Elvira falls for the detective despite being the killer is going to be hilarious.
