My Dearest is a history K-drama set in the Joseon era of Korea. The drama revolves around a bubbly young woman, Gil Chae, who fails to get love from the men she admires. Gil Chae, feeling defeated and disheartened, bumps into a mysterious man named Jang Hyun.
But before the two start having feelings for each other, war breaks out in their state, which creates hardships in their slow-paced growing relationship.
My Dearest first episode was aired on August 4, 2023, and is said to have a total of 10 episodes. However, My Dearest is divided into two parts, and the second part will be released somewhere around October 2023. So, after part 1 ends this week, don’t feel disheartened. My Dearest Episode Episode: Recap (Spoilers)
The last episode of My Dearest opens with a distareous environment in Joseon. King Injo bowed to the foreign invaders and agreed to send the Crown prince as their hostage to Simyang. The public of Joseon, however, pleads to King Injo, but he fails to come up with any other alternative.
Jang Hyun pretends to be held captive by the Joseon people by the Qing military. Therefore, he, along with his companion, joins the crown prince to go to Simyang as an interpreter since he knows the Qing language very well.
On his way, Gil Chae tries to stop Jang Hyun, but when Jang Hyun asks the reason why she is not letting him go, she can’t say anything. Jang Hyun then keeps one condition upon which he will stay with her forever and never leave. The condition is she must have to forget Yeon Jun and move on. But Gil Chae refuses to do so.
Therefore, Jang Hyun leaves for his destination, Simyang, and Gil Chae returns to her home. At home, she saw Yeon Jun propose to Eun-ae to get married to him. Eun-Ae reluctantly changes the topic. Late at night, Gil Chae herself convinces Eun-Ae and tells her this decision will make both of them happy forever, so she can forget about the past and move on.
However, Gil-Chae is surprised that if the man of her dreams is getting married in front t of her eyes, she is not feeling heavy. Maybe her heart’s void is occupied by someone else. At night, she again had the same dream, and this time, she saw the face of the man, who was none other than Jang Hyun.
Whereas, in Simyang, the Crown Prince is having a tough time dealing with the Khan’s orders and business. But Jang Hyun has settled down very well. He and his friends meet Yong Gol Dae in Simyang, which helps them to do business there and earn a profit. However, by the end, Khan’s military finds out about the secret trade and orders to kill all those who are involved.
