Later in the chapter, we see that one of the hunters, while talking to Van, says that even outside of the stories, you don’t hear many things. It seems they have been getting special treatment forever, even with the absence of the demon king. They take advantage of it to live in total luxury and womanize as they please, and some are real tyrannical jerks.
Not only that, but he also mentions that lots of heroes even go awol screwing things up as well. After all of them, there is the Great Hero, sad to be the world’s strongest, the best of the best among heroes, and they even wonder what he is like. However, one of the old men from the guild says that Heroes are humans as well, and that is why he can not say such things to them.
Along with that, he also says that a bad reputation is a hero’s own personal issue, after all, and that is why it would be foolish to make generalizations. This was when everyone accepted that and said that he was right with his beliefs and he was pretty different from his image.
At the same time, he also says that whatever the case, the Great Hero should be strong because he really likes to challenge him to a duel sometime. However, Van says that that is pretty opposite of what they had actually said.

Later in that story, Van notice that there is a guy standing just right in front of the dungeon gate, but he is not even moving his finger. When he approaches him and asks him if he is okay because his face is kinda weird, and he is zoning out as the dungeon is pretty dangerous.
However, he says that he is fine and that he was just bracing himself because he is willing to go straight down to the bottom.
