In the previous chapter, Chapter 16 of The Priest of Corruption, Derso’s sister confesses that it is her brother who has committed such a grave sin and he has planned this kidnapping because he despises his sister.
As she continues to explain that all this is because the noble family hates having or having given birth to mages because they tend to be driven by only themselves and to be self-centered. The only way she can end her brother’s interference is if she were to take on the position of his throne by killing him.
She makes him an offer to take her to Beatus which is a part of the Irimel family’s territory. She agrees to pay him his weight in gold if he helps her out. Since they agree to help, they begin the journey.
Marnak notices the customers misbehaving towards the waitress so he lands a few punches on them to make them learn a lesson or two. The owner of the place they are staying at is very happy to have their help to sort out the fight. Soon night falls, and Lady Irimel is in her room.
She is getting ready to have a day of rest. She has had a long day after she fought off the misbehaving customers on top of traveling all day long. Marnak enters her room with her permission and closes her mouth and warns her not to get Karmen to wake up. And the chapter ends there.
