Juno is an American coming-of-age drama and comedy movie released in 2007. It revolves around a teenage girl who is just sixteen years old and is creating a baby in her womb. An unplanned pregnancy is sometimes scary, and if the mother is a teen, then it is certainly horrifying. Many teens get confused and do not really know what to do. In 2007, the movie was released with the purpose of teaching teens about a few concepts.
The first and foremost thing is decision-making. We can see Juno making all the decisions herself with the support of her parents. Second is the support. A Teen is already confused and scared when she gets to know that she is pregnant, so at that time, they need someone’s support and someone to help her make decisions. The movie is no doubt good for teens and mothers, and so are its locations.
Juno Summary
The story revolves around the protagonist’s love life, in which she makes bold decisions. A sixteen-year-old high school girl, Juno MacGuff, has a friend named Paulie Bleeker. The relationship between the two was confusing as both of them liked each other but hesitated to express their feelings. Juno discovers that she is pregnant and the father is her friend Paulie. She panics but decides to get an abortion.
She arrived at local clinics, which were run by a women’s group. She meets a schoolmate who was having a one-person anti-abortion vigil in her hand. As Juno went inside the clinic, she decided not to abort the baby but rather decided to give the baby up for adoption. Juno and her friend Leah start searching for a childless and desperate couple for the baby.
They search every ad in the Pennysaver and finally find a childless married rich couple. Juno finalizes the couple as she feels they might be suitable parents. Juno goes straight to her father and tells everything to him, and asks him to help her find the couple. Father Mac and her stepmother Bren help her find the couple. Juno and Mac meet the couple, Mark and Vannessa, at their luxurious and expensive residence, and the couple agrees to keep the baby.
Juno visits Mark as they share the same preferences for Punk rock and Horror films, so they get closer. Mark does not work anywhere. Earlier, he used to own a rock band which he kept aside, and later he started composing commercial jingles at his home. One day, Juno and Leah were hanging out and saw Vannessa in the shopping mall. Vannessa was behaving very politely and lovingly with a kid. Juno then asks Vannessa to speak to the baby in her womb.
As Vannessa touches Juno’s belly, the child inside kicks for Vannessa, which makes her certainly happy. Moving further, we all know that during pregnancy, a mother has to go through a lot, including emotions and health. Juno was also struggling with her emotions. Since Juno had feelings for Paulie, it was getting worse for her. Juno tries to remain calm, but when she hears that Paulie has asked someone else for the upcoming prom, she confronts Paulie in a jealous rage. Paulie then tells Juno that it wasn’t his fault but Juno’s.
That is because Juno told him to stay away, and she also broke his heart. Juno keeps visiting Mark, and her pregnancy is at the last stage. She learns something different. Marks started liking Juno. He tells her that he might leave Vannessa soon to figure his life out. Juno was in total shock after hearing such horrifying things from him. Mark asks Juno what she thinks about him. When Vannessa enters home, Marks breaks up with her, and Juno runs away from the house and ends up crying on the shoulder of the road.
Juno and her father then have a very deep conversation in which her father suggests Juno do what her heart says. Juno, in the first place, opens up to Paulie and says that she loves him. Paulie, too says that he is in love with her. Juno’s Labor time comes closer, and she gives birth to a baby boy. Paulie is about to miss the birth, but he rushes to the hospital and sees Juno crying. He supports her and comforts her. Vannessa too arrives at the hospital and claims joyfully that she is the mother of the baby. In the end, we see Juno and Paulie spending quality time together.
