The Tears of a Jester recently released its latest chapter, chapter 49. In chapter 49, Lux loses her pet dog, which she called Cerberus. No one tried to help her for treating her dog, as Verona ordered all of them. Even after losing her dog, she tried to build her relationship with Verona. However, Verona isn’t kind to her; she told Lux to die if she wants to avoid fighting with her.

The chapter starts with Verona showing her sympathy for Lux, but all of it is her thought. She didn’t mean it. She is trying her best to remove Lux from her way to rule over Winsland. The fight between them continues, and it would be exciting to see where the story will end up in upcoming chapters. The chapter starts with Jester kneeling before Verona. Upon searching each other’s faces, they detected regret, followed closely by the remnants of resentment, the desire for atonement, and the seeds of mistrust that cannot be shaken off. Verona apologized to Jester for slapping him. Jester casually asked her about the transpired between her father and Annette. She told him that her father avoided her just as he did before. That day marked their first and last day meeting.

She sometimes thought things would have paled out differently if she had been honest with her father rather than temping his past. She thought if she had just taken that child (Lux) by the hand and led her to him, instead of treating her so harshly. Despite knowing all too well that none of those things have been possible. Knowing that Lux’s puppy won’t make it through, she told Jester to bring Lux to her.

Later we see Lux crying after Cerberus’s (her dog) condition. She called out for the maids and told them to bring meat for her dog and to bring Lennox to check on her dog. The maid brought the boiled meat for her dog. She took a spoon and fed Cerberus the boiled meat with it. After eating it her dog started coughing.

She holds the dog in her hand told that he must live. Lennox arrived and asked what had happened. Lux told him Cerberus wasn’t ingesting even a single piece of meat. She asked him to save her dog. However, Lennox turned his face away because he knew it would die soon.

Afterwards, we see Jester bring Lux to Verona. Verona asked her if she received her dog. Lux replied yes. She then asks what she did once she received him. She replied that she gave him some boiled meat. Verona then asks if he ate it. She replied he vomited all of it. Verona then asks what she did when he didn’t eat it. She told her that she offered him some other food, like bread and fish. Verona asked what happened because of that. Lux looked in her eye without fear and told her that it died.

Verona told her that due to her lack of knowledge in petting a dog, an innocent life was lost. And that’s why Winsland cannot be handed over to her. Lux told her it was her mistake. Verona countered and said that it was her foolishness. Lux asked why she always fought with her and if there is any way to avoid that ordeal. Veronica told her if she wished to avoid fighting, then she must die.
