Sister, I Am the Queen in This Life Chapter 47 Recap
The chapter starts with Ariadne narrating the current situation, the incident wherein Cesare’s mother, Rubina, poisoned Queen Margaret to death. When Queen Margaret was poisoned, the queen’s home kingdom, Gallico Kingdom, was unable to forgive the Etruscans for killing a Gallican Royal who attacked Etruscan.
Because of that, they opposed the Gallico Kingdom, and in the end, Prince Alfonso broke his engagement with Gallico. Later, Leo III wanted someone who had no military power. Due to that, Carinal’s daughter Isabella was married to Prince Alfonso.
If all things continued as they were, the queen would be poisoned, and because of that, The Cardinal’s daughter will have to engage with Alfonso. So, in that case, Ariadne thinks that her daughter should her. She could just wait for that to happen, but Queen Margaret did her a favour, and if the queen died, Alfonso would be destroyed from the inside. This wasn’t something Ariadne could prevent, and above all, she wanted the queen’s death to occur.
Later in the chapter, we see Ariadne telling her maid to buy beeswax. Ariadne knew that someday people would need beeswax because, in the summer of 1123, the Bubonic Plague would hit the Etruscan Kingdom, so to prevent the spread of the disease, beeswax of applied to one’s clothes and body. That is why she collects beeswax, so if the Bubonic plague begins, she will sell the beeswax to gain profit.
Later we see Arabella playing the piano. Ariadne told Arabella to learn about composing a bit more. She told her that they don’t have a private teacher who could teach her how to compose in San Carlo. Ariadne, they suggest she study Abroad in Padua.
It is the same place where her eldest brother, Ippolito, studies. Ariadne was telling her all this because, in the past, Arabella died from the Bubonic Plague, however, it is impossible to stop Plague. So she is having her flee to a place where the Bubonic Plague won’t reach.
We then see all the family members discussing the matter. When Arabella said that she wanted to go to Padua to learn to compose, her mother started shouting at her, saying she was just a girl. So Ariadne tries to convince her father by telling him to let Arabella live in the university of music associated with the convent, as she will be regarded as a simple lady.
