Who Is Vlad the Impaler?
Born in Sighisoara, Romania, in 1431, Vlad the Impaler, aka Vlad III or Dracula, was the ruler of Wallachia. He has four brothers, and he was the second among them. His father was Vlad the Dragon, aka Draco, whose motive was just to defend their religion, i.e., Christianity, and other than this, he was a knight in the Order of the Dragon.
And, because of his position, he was called and remembered as Draco. In the 15th century, Vlad III’s methods of punishment were always thought of as horror, and he was considered the cruelest. He, along with his father, moved to Wallachia in 1436, and their legacy continued there.
His father and elder brother were assassinated by Walachian boyars, and from there, he embarked on his father’s position and worked in his own way. He was so ready for Walachian boyars to realize and be ready for the revenge that he was planning for his father’s and brother’s killing.
Famous author, Bram Stoker, has told about Vlad the Impaler and his ruling in his novel and put him as his main character in the novel called “Dracula,” which was based on Vlad. That book was published in 1897. His nickname Dracula only shows how he would be.
